Wheel baring

Featured Replies

The driver side wheel baring went the other day and i only had 22K on the clock. I bought the car from Lightcliffe Skoda in Huddersfield and live in Durham. So i rang them up and all they could say was bring it in for us to have a look at for them to say what the problem was and would not say whether covered or not under warrenty (the local garage were 100% it was the wheel baring). I told them i'm not driving a 200 mile round trip for them to say it's not covered when i could get it done locally.

I rang up Skoda Customer Services, explained and all they said was "General wear and tear mate, not covered".

I remember seeing a thread and someone said that their wheel baring went, in fact both within 60miles and they had it fixed under warrenty. Anyone able to say who it was or if they have had a similar problem.

I got it fixed at the local garage for

AFAIK, you can take your car to ANY Skoda dealer to have warranty issues addressed. However, I fear it'll be too late if you've already got it fixed - still worth having another go with Skoda Customer Services, though...

SCS are talking ********.:mad: A wheel bearing should last longer than 22000 miles. One of mine went at 24000 and was fixed under warranty no problem.

Skoda rang back and said they listened to my call as they found it. She states the person does say that "generally" wheel barings are not covered under warrenty for wear and tear, however, because i was advised to get it looked at by Skoda in ther first instance nothing further will be done.
