Warrantee Paranoia !!!

Featured Replies

I am now getting paranoid!!

Waiting for a call from Grasmere Skoda Macclesfield, to tell me my mid vent unit is in.

Have asked for it to be replaced under warantee cos one of the blades does not turn in unison with the others. Is it covered under warrantee ??

Similarly - is a nearside door with a rattle over rough ground covered under warrantee ?

They have also stated that there is play in the steering that needs to be checked - only bought the 55 plate car last week from Lightcliffe Skoda Halifax, which i have been assured has had the full checks and steering is fine, no accidents to blame but could just be tracking out - is this covered under warantee ??

I have stated over the phone to service reception that if it is not covered by warantee then i do not want vent replacing cos i'll live with it. One is on order anyway.

Why wont they tell me if the above items are covered under warantee?? Can anyone tell me if they are.

Why do the garages have to be so bloody coy?

If i'm going to be tricked into paying for these items then why the hell am i taking it in ? Don't like being tricked !

Sales receptionist has offered a courtesy car whilst they check the above and play in the steering but by accepting this am i accepting the work to be done by contract, chargeable or not.

I am going mad - dont want to have to pay for any of the above as I've just piad

Just tell the garage that you're not paying anything and that if any of the work will incur a cost then not to do it until they contact you first. If the car is knackered you can always reject it and get your money back if they won't fix it.

Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear your having so much trouble with your car.I got exactly the same car from this garage but payed £12495 for it about 5 months ago so i know you got a well priced car.All i can say is stick to your guns and get everything fixed under warranty.I've had no problems so far with my car apart from a split in the seat which they fixed no problem.Maybe you should deal direct with Halifax dealer, you have only had the car for a few weeks and had so many problems.

Whatever you do good luck, Ill keep my fingers crossed for you.

When they take your car they usually ask for you to sign something.

When you sign this write clearly next to your signature, no work to be carried out which will incur a total cost of more than £25 without calling to authorise.

If this work is done without calling payment will not be made for the work carried out.

It is amazing how effective it is at getting them to call you, and the £25 limit gives them some money for random bits and bobs without having to call you to grease a hinge.

Very good idea:thumbup: Although my dealer has been 100% spot on with me so far

I've just picked my car back up from warranty work (second time) - didn't have any paperwork to sign afterwards, only when I dropped it off and that was on a form with the work to be carried out printed at the top.

My local dealers don't even mention anything about the courtesy car, other than you have to provide the fuel!

Stick it out with your dealer, ask to speak to the manager if you're worried but if they say it's warranty work it shouldn't cost you a penny.

Is the Foreign lady still on the service desk @ grasmere? If she is then the few dealings I have had with here have been a total nightmare as she is very difficult to understand and this has not helped to resolve the problems! you can have my sympathys in dealing with them.

You should have the balance of Skoda UK's 3 year warranty remaining. See here for what is covered.
