Towbar

Featured Replies

Probably a silly question but are VRS (estate mk1) rear bumpers the same as those on the regular models so i can order a standard octy estate towbar?

Its got nothing to do with the bumper its where in bolts onto under the floor that matters for a towbar.

realise that, its just that i had a Nissan Almera with sports bumpers, the towbar fitted perfectly but they had to cut a small section on the base of the bumper for it to go on. A friend has a Mondeo ST and same problem, cant fit a towbar without cutting part of the bumper, as its a different shape. Any idea if the vrs has standard bumper - i might take a walk around the dealers forecourt to check.

It's not exactly the same - the standard one doesn't have the exhaust cutout does it?

I thought you had to cut a hole for the standard VAG towbar anyway?

There is a Brinks Towbar with an adjustable neck on it , the neck can be raised or lowered by up to 2 inches, so no need to cut bumper.

Dont fancy them cutting it, thats was ok on my Nissan, but i like the Scud to much to have people hacking at the bumper. The price of towing a caravan i guess!:(

I had a cut a hole in my estate (non-vrs) bumper to fit my tow-bar. Was not very large - about an 1 1/2inch square (if that). As the cut out is on the back, underside of the bumper is not that noticable.

I have a brink detachable tow bar on my vRS (hatchback), it was fitted for around

Made a few calls today, main dealer could fit one without cutting the bumper (he thought) but 500 quid! Cant fit a detachable one as i use an ALKO towball and its not reccommended. Gone for a standard one with a small cut for 200 notes. ta for help.
