take it the poiint of measurement changes the duration then?

yes, i think sometimes the cam manufacturers dream up the figures so they look better on paper

so what you saying? i go for the piper VPHBP270H?

between that and the gs1h there isn't an awefull lot of difference, but theoretically the piper one will be more torquey and the kent one will be more revvy:) swings and roundabouts...... personally i would go for the piper one.... they do list other profiles as well too:rolleyes:

thanks for all that, i know i'm hard work some times, but its all in the name of making one fast mo fo of a skud.

the next thing i would think about doing in your case pinkskud is swapping your gearbox for the gearbox form an early 1.3 model with the 4.12:1 final drive, this will do wonders for the acceleration and will bring the gear ratios closer together

I take it you refer to either a favorit or mk1 carb fed 1.3 felicia?

oooh! gearbox swap too!

whats the torque rating on that box?

The favorit estate had a higer ratio final drive than the hatchback version the felicia all used favorit hatchback final drives diesel and 1.6 I dont have a clue about.

Favorit Estate 4.167

Favorit Hatch 3.895

Felicia Hatch and Estate 3.895

The estate gearbox is commonly used for Group N and budget rallying, although 6 speed boxes and better gear kits and final drives are available from CZ.

I personally dont like the higher ratio final drives, I prefer to spread my peak power over a few more mph and to be able to hold on to a gear that bit longer, but it largelly depends on your power band. Ive never driven a really highly strung all top end engine, all my engines have been build for torque and power across a range and hence I prefer a diff that maximises that. I prefer to "drive" rather than sprint, I go for a higher average speed rather than a 0-60 dash. If I can hang on to a gear 4mph longer without shifting up and losing speed so much the better.

had thourght about the gear box, but i dont want to drop the top speed. and dont fancy running at 5000rpm no the moterway just to keep up.

if it were a 2nd car then defo, would go for the closer box.

next i think will be wheels/tyers and the cam.

and when i can get hold of the lower manifold/cat from a skrapyard. it'll be the

de-cat to.

if anyone sees a 1.6 in a scrappy can you give me a shout. or some 15" passat wheels for that matter.

there's a 1.6 felicia at silverlakes near botley, but it's probably about a million miles away from you

whitch botley? oxfordshire, buckinghamshire, or hampshire.

hampshire

silverlake auto spares

be quick tho, they have a habit of getting rid of them pretty quickly

bit far for me. thinks mind. keep your eyes open, realy need that cat/manifold

if you need a manifold, the one from a mk4 polo is the same!:)

Hello

The 136 PUSH ROD engine as seen in the Favorite/Felicia/fabia. Old style and the overall design and stroke of the engine limits its power 5000rpm although 7000 has been achieved and still giving power out of a push rod. Most modern cars have 16v DOHC or 8v or even 12v or 24v single in-line engines.

the new Fabia out this year will not sport any push rod engines as the emissions and performance are just ne good! however the 1.2 petrol and diesel will still be there along with a new improved VW unit 1.4..

Thanks

So the Fab 1.4 is stroked rather than rebored, so if a 1.3 were stroked AND rebored (replacement inserts) it would be getting into kit-car performance areas? Why not rebore a 1.4?
