and although 4x4 will make a car heavier it is capable of handling way more power than a FWD car so can be faster if done right.

unlike a haldex on an octy.....:)

strange that paul, so why did i pass and lap faster than pretty much every other briskodian on track and very nearly keep up with the S4 that was running at least 60bhp more that was infront of me??

that included lapping pug 205's, bmw's etc and mk1/mk2 octavia's both remapped with handling mods and fabia's with both remaps and handling mods including J with all his bigger turbo etc ??

it wasn't all down to me being a stupid boy on track the fact that i could actually put my power down helped so in that case yes a haldex equipped octavia was faster than a FWD octavia. shock horror.

:haha:

Haldex probably is inferior to proper 4 wheel drive but loads better than fwd for sure.

I wish they put a haldex system on the fabia although that would make it heavier. would be nice tho. Suppose it would be very similar to the adui A3 quattro 19.tdi

doubt it, thats a bigger heavier car that is basically the same as the octavia 4x4.

changing the haldex controller has made quite a difference to my cars handling and the way it puts its power down :)

dont every recall a haldex equipped octavia passing either me or jon......

i would include des but usually he was too busy mowing the grass / picking pretty flowers to turn in a good lap.

I don't know how many times I have to say this but I am an earthy type person and when ever I see a good spot I have to stop and admire the view.........all right, get over it. :P ;)

Bengie

Don't take any notice or him, he and Jon have never forgiven me for winning the BEST DRIVER OF THE DAY at Castle Coombe while they both just looked on with envy.

sounds about right :)

not surprised given i have never been to castle combe.....

RPM tour......mind you it may be before your time.

so what octavia 4x4's were about when you had the red baron then? that would be the two that were just 4x4's with a remap and possibly coilovers at best? running about 220bhp or so, but i suppose thats neither here nor there.
