A new car for the wife.

Featured Replies

My wife is looking for a new car; she has about 5k to spend.

It has to be able to carry one 6 year old and 1, 19 month old, including all there general rubbish so a reasonable boot space and wide opening doors so we can lift in the little one.

It also has to be able to cope with the occasional long journey and motorway driving so a reasonable size engine possibly diesel.

Colour and make is not that important it

You can have my Polo for £5k ;)

You can have my Fabia for 5K.

But you have to sign the papers for a horrible 15 year old as well:thumbup:

Well, stating the obvious here, how about a Fabia Estate diesel? I don't think you'll get a good Octy diesel for your budget.

A Focus Estate?

Picasso - lots about for the money and more reliable than reputation would have you believe

Mr Grumpy, isnt that taking the Buy 1 Get 1 Free a bit far ?? :D:)

2nd hand mk4 ibiza 5 door hatch

decent sized boot, 5 doors, and a variety of engines, I'd go for the boggo 1.9tdi or the 1.2 petrol - both adequate for her needs by the sounds of it :)

Is a Polo big enough? We're on our third and they've all been good. Much nicer than Fabia.

Have heard that your local dealer JCB are doing cost+£49 at the mo, might be worth a visit.

How about a 2nd hand tank, heavy on fuel, but she shouldnt be able to knock it about too much !

She has a 56 ibiza at the moment as a loan car and she likes that very much what reg would a mk 4 be?

Please keep the ideas coming.:)

Second hand 2002 Octy Estate with a TDI90 have been seen for that sort of price.

I'd say bearing in mind how Ross looks after his cars, that his polo would probably be a bit of a good buy for low future running costs. That plus you could then sell the other car privately making more than you would get part ex for it.

02 onwards but some 02's will be Mk3's.

Sounds like a good deal, wont go wrong with a new Micra.

That is really reassuring to hear.

At the end we had a lot of problems with the Suzuki it cost us
