Dreaded Emissions Workshop-drat-heeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!!

Featured Replies

Driving back from Sheffield today (2.0 TDi Octy II) I decided to take the leisurely route back across the 616 etc and after a few mile there was this big thump accompanied by a flashing glow plug. I have a look in the Skoda Bible to see what it is and realise I

If the car is off the road the AA will give you a car but only if it's a break down so you may be as well calling them now and insisting that you don't want to drive it and have it recovered to Horners.

I don't think yours has a DPF as it'll be a 140hp PD. Might be an Oxygen Sensor problem.

Yah:), thanks for the reply Stu:hug: , thought nobody was gonna help. I might ring up my salesman first and ask him

I've been caught with the AA thing before, if you take the car to the dealers it's not classed as a break down and therefore no replacement car is provided.

Thanks Stu, wise words. I

In my experience of Skoda dealers handling break downs, they'll give you a car if there's one available, but most are booked out 3 weeks in advance :( If I were you, and were a valued customer, I'd be seeing if I could have loan of one of their demo cars while the work is carried out otherwise. If you're a high mile user, it may also encourage them to get it into the workshop asap too :D

Another tact may be to say that as the car is under warranty AND they don't have a courtesy car, you will be hiring an equivalent car and sending them/Skoda the bill :D

Yes I might well try the last suggestion. The trouble is by then I will have gotton so stroppy I will be threatening them with anti-terrorist troops, and threatening to go the European court of human rights.

I very disappointed though, my Toledo was faultless, dammed technology. Of perhaps Willberpog has just caught a bit of a cold?

Looks like you wont be posing in front of shop windows tomorrow.

Sorry I should not laugh at your misfortune, I had the same problem 3 wks ago it turned out to be a faulty injector they tried to tell me that I got dirty diesel .

Hope you get sorted out quickly do not take any bull##it .

Not sure if this is a help or not, but I had the same sequence of events on my Passat, also a TDI140. The emissions light stayed on all day, but disappeared after being parked up overnight. Took it to VW to be checked out. It was apparently a known "over-sensitivity" (ah bless) issue, and the latest software flash seems to have stopped it happening again. Or maybe they just disconnected the bulb...

Anyway, hope Wilberprog is OK.

I'd avoid all fuel additives, just because it might give them a reason not to cover you.

Could be worth putting a tank of known good fuel like BP Ultimate in with the half tank you have see if it helps. I'd be a bit worried about the bang though myself.

In my experience, the "bang" is just the car suddenly deciding the turbo shouldn't be being used and is followed by relatively rapid deceleration. I personally wouldn't drive it around in limp mode too much as that could potentially do more damage (it's called limp-home mode for a reason!), but then you'll have to weigh it up against lost earnings :(

I believe Sharkrider successfully claimed from Skoda UK for lost earnings when his driving school car was broken and in for warranty work. May be worth preparing that invoice now ;)

I put 30 litres of BP ultimate in at the last fill up, but a few litres short of topping the tank up, the pump kept cutting out. I assumed it had run dry, but can

Update:

Willberpog is now at the Doctors (Horners of Manchester)and is staying in overnight! He looks very sad and dejected but it

Sounding promising.

I must admit as I stood there starting at Horners promise of excellence and was being told I could drive on the warning light and it would be OK I did have my doubts. Luckily (I think) Willberpog helped out by refusing to start for the mechanic, which definitely helped. Glad I held out to speak to Emma and a mechanic now.

My loan car now also has an engine warning light on!

And what's the common factor between the light coming on in your car and the light coming on in the loan car? :rubchin:
