Question for those with parking sensors...

Featured Replies

I want to play a trick on one of my bosses. The parking sensors in his Beemer drive him nuts, so I want to wind him up by getting a small piece of tinfoil and some blutac to stick over one of the sensors (front or rear) so that the buzzer will drive him batty.

Will this work? Any volunteers to try this one out for me?

Any parking sensor systems I know a tech spec for work on radar or IR rangefinding, so all you'd do is completely block the signal path, and make the system assume it was faulty.

Just get him to install a tow bar :P

tack on a toilet-roll tube with some tinfoil at the end.....

Take a stanley knife to the bumper and turn the sensor round

It's only a BM and he's only your boss - there'll be no comeback.

a better trick - get a kid's black wax crayon - draw a really nasty-looking smashed/cracked area on the rear window!!! works a treat!

Can combine with a spoonful of coolant or any thick oil down the tailpipe.......

I wonder what the effect of blocking one side of a sensor would be?

I second the toilet roll tube and tinfoil method, seems the most likely to work. A kitchen roll tube might be more effective though.

Or just go with the classic "let all 4 tyres down" trick, that'll annoy him if he hasn't got run flats.

He's got run flats, unfortunately. The toilet roll tube sounds good but too obvious, however it has given me an idea involving a long slim spring and some tinfoil.... I will keep you all posted :)

More importantly, there would be no fingerprints ;)

i've heard car polish in the groove of the sensor may cause it to go t1ts up , got no evidence for this though
