fabia boot - pram

Featured Replies

I havent been on here for ages, sorry! been busy!

Found out xmas time that my mrs and i are going to be parents in August! Gem is pregnant! woooopie!

Just need to know do i need to look to buy a new car? Or does an average size pram easily fit in a Fabia boot?

I would have thought you'd struggle with that one!

I could only just about get a bike rack in the boot of mine, and that was much flatter than a standard pram. You'd prob be looking at putting the single seat down at least.

Perhaps an Octavia??

not easily, but it does fit. dont expect to get much shopping in with it.

I'm using one of these type of prams

i colud go out and measure the boot - but its late!

Folded dimensions for the pram we are meant to buy from a mate is :92 x 62 x 44cm

Mothercare

Mothercare make some great pushchairs and prams (made by Graco usually) and thier staff in our local store were very helpfull. IMHO there is no need to go spend a fortune on some 3 wheels 4x4 offroad suspension, disc brakes behemouth, same thing as getting a Range Rover to do the school trip. It annoys me as usually the same people complain about how expensive it is to bring up children.

£140 bought this lot from Mothercare, including the car seat and seat base. All carry the same safety certs etc and the pushchair converts to cater for up to 3 yrs, also the child seat fits onto the pushchair for the first few months,

It should have no problems fitting the Fabia boot, fits in my Polo.

cheers lummox - nah i wont buy expensive stuff - mother care is the one for me too - been offered this

Mothercare Trenton Deluxe pushchair travel system - Linear : mothercare

for £75, but wondered if anyone had trouble using a fabia to have a pushchair in the car, as well as other things? or is it just too akward?

You really need to go to Mothercare and try them out. I found that if you keep the Fabia, you'll severely restrict your choice of pushchairs/prams which may or may not be an issue to you :D We found the ones which folded down a lot were also a bugger to fold down with one hand (the baby being in the other) so that helped us choose the one we wanted.

We bought the same kit as Lummox but it was branded Graco for about £120 (it was the last one) it was a bargain and had everything we needed, the base for the car seat makes it much easier to get baby in and out of the car. When we bought it I still had a saxo and it went into the boot of that no problem, so it easily fits in a Fabia and we still got a weekly shop in the boot as well.

Now baby isn't so small anymore we bought a Quinny Zapp with the footmuff I managed to get it all for around £140, it folds down easily and is pretty compact. The Zapp is also compatible with Britax car seats so it is possible to build up your own travel system like the Graco/Mothercare ones mentioned but it would be more expensive buying all the items separately.

Oh and as well as baby we also have our 4yr old daughter to transport as well so the Fabia really has it's work cut out for it! :)

For longer journeys it might be worth considering a roof box?
