Knocking ARB

Featured Replies

I suspect my stiff coilovers have finally caused the front ARB to fail - Is it a completely new part, including bushes, or "might" I get away with replacement bushes alone?

The real reason for this thread then - Is there modded/stronger/uprated alternatives available for the front ARB - thinking pd160 cupra for some reason.

I was told the Fabia VRS was the thickest one.

If it is the bar stops that have split and come off then its a new bar.

I have had this knocking it was just the ARB bushes which can be changed with the ARB in place on the car.

also change the rods that connect to the end of the ARB to the suspension as well they only cost about

OK - as I'm running a pd100 bar - never changed it - I will ask for a vRS one when / if it needs a new one. Being looked at very soon all being well. It just knocks when in a straight line - like a dull thudding when going over ripples in the road.

try changing the droplinks first

you can get stiffer arb bushes from powerflex

yup get powerflex ones or summit, takes me bout 5 mins 2 change arb bushes, piece of ****!

Is the ARB bush a 20mm or 21mm one?

Thought they were 19mm on the pd100

:iagree:

you'll have to check your chassis option codes to find out:D

Woohoo I am learning hehe

Thanks. :) Its just i have a PDF of a Mk4 Golf, and it says 20mm or 21mm ARB bushes. They've not got a fabia one, but I will ask for 19mm ones when I order. :)

The Mk4 Golf is completely different.

I would think yours is drop links as Tom said if its knocking in a straight line. If the collars havve come off then changing the bushes is pointless as the bar still wont be centralised and will shift and knock on the console.

they definately do specific fabia ones... in 18m 19mm, and 20mm iirc

Changing the complete bar and the bushes? Just want to uprate anything that is likely to break again.

Edit: I should add I'm looking at the superflex website - was turned away from powerflex after hearing some dodgy things about the expensive price, and the not so good build of their bushes.

just for your info

the powerflex part numbers for the anti roll bar bushes for a fabia are

16mm: PFFF85-603-16

17mm: PFFF85-603-17

19mm: PFFF85-603-19

about £12 iirc

i've personally never had any problems with powerflex bushes and they allways fit really well too

Nowt wrong with Powerflex, used them for ages on my Corsa. I only had one problem and that was down to Vauxhall changing the spec of the bush carrier.

If you're buying a load of bushes, haggle on the price ;)

Aye. :D

It seems a little odd that they list the RRP of the individual bushes, yet their "kit" job lots are exactly the same price as if you bought the whole lot together.

Though Eibach do one for the fab now IIRC isnt is 22mm or something - i noticed a difference when i put the bigger Cupra TDI one on mine

i've got one, dont waste your money, it isn't worth it:)

and that doesn't even include the dogbone mount bush....

You cant change the dog bone mount bush can you on the Fabia?

i was wondering the same thing the other day.... do you know if the reart mount on the vrs is the same as the 2.0 model??:)

The six speed has a different mounting iirc.
