Anyone thinking of buying a registered version of VAG-COM

Featured Replies

It's Friday night, nearly 8pm here.

I've emailed Ross Tech in the US and recieved 2 replies in under 30 mins which appear to have solved my query.

If you've ever wondered what you are paying for when buying a legit cable - look no further!!

I can't believe the level of support these guys offer - well done to Andy from Ross Tech, thanks.

Nice to know Stu. Thinking about splashing out on one in the near future.

So, did you got your new cluster adapted already? :)

it's not for me Sebastian, was doing a favour for someone else and I've not had a chance to meet up with the other person again yet.

I'll let you know if it works.

I understand that thanks are due to you for trialing the procedure.

Nah, no need to say thanks yet.

The procedure has been tested on several vehicles now - my Octavia (1Z) too. So I expect it will work fine in your case, but I was curious if you already did it. :)

well after using 311 version and then downloading a higher version, which would'nt work with my ebay lead, i decided to purchase the genuine part and registered version, had a reply all most instantly, and an email for tracking purposes.

lead should be with me on monday, now why don't we get service like this in the uk, i've ordered parts before for other situations and paid for priority delivery, and still not had them when promised.

3 days from order to recieving, fantastic!!!!

what are the customs charges like?

About £28 on a full Hex&Can cable IIRC

We got one at work before christmas, customs charges 17.5% VAT and round about 2.7% Duty. It has worked perfectly on Felicias and Octavia I and II. It is not worth messing around with non genuine.

Delivery time was unbelievably fast.

I take it you buy just the cable then the software etc is free? Whats the price of the set-up, keep considering it but would have to be USB as my notebook doesn't have serial :(

USB is the preferred option.

Check out the Ross Tech website.

"Cough"

August is a long time away, but I have and address in the states and will be off again for 3 weeks, so if needed, and people paid up front, I could order some legit items and bring them back with me ..... avoiding gordon and his buddies.

Put it in the diary and drop me a pm. :)

Thanks, looked at it but not clear on what I need. Thought I'd ask here and save their techs asking some basic questions. I'm assuming it's the '

VAG-COM License with KEY-USB Interface' unit I need?

Thanks Stu. One last question, where is the ODB port on the Fabia? Is it easily accessible?

Behind the can cooler; below and to the right of the steering column.
