Mad door mirrors !!

Featured Replies

Evening all.

The door mirrors on my VRS seem to have got over friendly with each other, and insist on moving together. If I adjust the LH mirror, the RH one also moves, but in the opposite axis. If I adjust the RH mirror, the LH one stays put. I therefore have to set the LH mirror first, then correct the wacky adjusted RH one again :mischief:

Wouldn't normally bother me too much, but I tend to crank the LH mirror down when I reverse into a space at work. There is a kerb down the nearside of the space, and I don't want to knock the alloys.

Switch unit, mirror motor(s), cabling ??? Any ideas

\Cheers/

Check your handbook, its supposed to do that.

its cos you did something

there's a way of making them do that but i can't remember the proceddure to do/undo it

damn you lummox you beat me to it:D :D

There isnt a procedure other than the one he has already found, adjust both then the single.

Although I feel like a bit of a spud head for not knowing it was normal, I must say, "that's frigging mad". Why would having the switch in one position (as in left) move both mirrors :rubchin:

Words fail me !

Because its for cars with two drivers.

Say your wife/partner/lover whatever gets in the car and moves the seat forward, the mirrors are now out of position. All he/she/it needs to do is one operation to bring both mirrors in so he/she/it can see, this is why the mirror moves int he opposite direction.

Understood. Thanks for the info guys.

I swear this never did before though, I am sure I would have noticed.

Anyway, so long as it's not a wiring fault, spose I can live with it.

BTW - I don't let the wife drive the car, she might break it

i'll second that motion

thats what i meant sort of

Yep, its a "feature". It was changed in 2004 for single operation though. :)

I first noticed after washing my car, I thought water had found its way in lol. I find it really useful for parking though, despite mocking it when I first discovered it!

i'll second that motion

I'll third it... as she might smoke in it as well if I am not there
