Hello Group, this is my first post . I am on Octavia No3. The first was a 52 plate vRS, nice but on my 150 mile round trip each day to work my fuel bills were just to high , then came the new 53 plate 1.9 TDi L&K a quality car and now I have a new 56 plate 2.0 TDi L&K.

Enough of that, down to the question. I hope someone can help

I have just purchased a Nokia hands-free kit from eBay. I have bench tested it and it works ok as far as I can tell. But I am sure the tele-mute lead is wrong, the guy said it was Vdub but I am not so sure because it looks noting like the one I see on the net.

How does the radio come out :confused:? I found the 4 screws the radio moves but gets stuck. Do I need to remove the front trim. If so how?

Hi Me again. Just been reading some previous threads. Still none the wiser as to how to remove the trim and get the radio out. But one of the threads mentions that you do not need an extra loom to fit the phone just cut the nokia speaker leads off and wire them to the radio, then wire the mute lead.

Is this correct? If so it will save loads of money.

The Octy II uses CANBUS to switch the radio on and therefore doesn't have a switched live as we know it. The easiest way is to tap into the back of the fuse box using a proper terminal and fuse it up a the phone (In the phone position) My Phone is wired like this and the control unit is also hidden under there.

Finally got it out. You have to be a bit forceful to get the front trim off. Open the ash tray and reach up then pull. After that with a stiff blade you can pop the clips one by one. The radio is jus 4 screws in each corner.

I was right the Nokia kit had an ISO telemute loom. It did not fit. Our local car audio shop sold a converter. It sort of works. Only the front speakers mute for the phone the rear keep blazing. The head unit does not say PHONE either. Tomorrow I will put it all back, I need to re-couple the cdplayer, reversing sensors etc.

Mine works perfectly without a fandango lead.

Like I said, you need a switched 12v supply, preferably from the fuse panel.

Have a look on my website under MFD2 install and you'll see the pinouts for the stream. You need to buy a plug to go into your qualock connector and the correct pre terminated cable.

Tel + is the speaker +ve

Tel - is the speaker -ve

Tel mute does what it says on the tin.

I'll see if I dig the numbers out for you.

The plug is 12 Pin Green 3B7 035 447 B £3.76

The wires for it are 000 979 010 £1.29 Each. They come with 2 terminals per wire so you only need one if your dealer will allow you to order one but they are supposed to be in packs of 6.

I can't remember the number for the one in the fuse box off the top of my head, it is on here if you search or i'll post it up if I find it.

You are absolutely right i just was not thinking right yesterday. I can see it now it looks so simple. Radio has a built in telemute.

I just need to get the blue plug to go into the quadlock.

If you can find a part number it would be great. I will trawl RS for one, they must have it as it looks fairly standard.

Mike I don't think you'll find the connectors at RS, they are pretty hard to come buy and in small quantities the ones from Skoda are fine.

The fuse box one will simply pop into the spare slot on the fuseway labled for the phone (Once you've released the catch of course). It will have the wire attatched as per the ones for the green plug.

It'll cost you much less than £10 and you'll be all sorted and connected just they way Skoda would do it.

I now have my phone connected to the MFD2 - works fine as well.

Hi Got it fitted this afternoon.

Stu was absolutely correct. YOU DO NOT NEED A SPECIAL CABLE.

I found that the idc connector from a pc had the same pin pitch. So I cut one down to 12 way then soldered the three wires to it. Power went to fuse.

Sorted.

Does any one now what the blue wire from the main 4 pin power plug does on a Nokia kit

The blue is your switched live or ignition sensing wire and the red a permanent live.

If you are mid call it will remain connected even if you switch the ignition off until you end the call.

My Phone is wired like this and the control unit is also hidden under there.

How easy is it to access this area - is the panel below the steering wheel simply held on with a couple of screws, or is it more complicated than that...?

I'm looking to possibly hide some wiring behind this panel, so am interested to know what's involved in taking the panel off (before I start...)

Remove the headlight switch by pushing in and turning the kn0b to release the latches.

Pull off the silver trims either side of the steering wheel and undo the screws.
