Performance Air Filters - vRS

Featured Replies

Are there any Performance Air Filters available for the new vRS yet?

The TDi PD Model, and preferably replacement element panel filters, not cone filter induction kit?

I would think that the airbox is the same as the PD140 in which case yes I think there is.

Yes, there are panel filter replacements. There is Green cotton and K&N...........The part number for Green is P960137 and for K&N it's 33-2888. These will replace in the 2.0l TFSI but don't know about the TDI's etc.

It's different for the TFSi. The TDi has an airbox whereas the TFSi has the filter in the engine cover.

I thought the air filter on the vRS TDI might be the same as the 2.0L PD 140 (in photographs the airboxes look similar).

However, my dealer tells me the vRS TDI air filter is specific to that model (although perhaps common with the Golf GT and Leon FR).

Can't find a listing for it on Green Cotton or Pipercross's websites yet, these would seem to be the favourite as you can get them 'dry' (not oiled).

Hi

If I can get the part number for the filter I will be able to match it up

This seems to be going no where! although needs answering as there are alot of tdi owners and i'm sure we'd all love to get our hands on replacement or performance filters!!!

Right , dont ever call Claybank and ask them for a part number on an air filter when the F1 active (chassis number helper) is not working :(

Having being in parts for 5 years and without it , it really winds me up Rant Rant

Anyway I do believe the part number for the air filter is 1K0129620D

£35.00 + VAT and we have 2 in stock

Hopefully we have that right now

Cheers all, looks like there may be light at the end of this tunnel... haha

Having been told that the airfilter on the vRS TDI is specific to this model by two Skoda dealers; I now have the part no which is; 1K2 819653A

Hope this helps track down a replacement - 'cos I'll want one!!

I would call K&N if you are unsure as the website says all TDi's 1.9 and 2.0

Having done some browsing on the Interweb I have found that PiperCross do a filter for the 2.0L TDI (170bhp), albeit for the Golf V, but it ought to fit the Octavia vRS.

Details are here:- Pipercross Volkswagen Rectangular Filter Panel - Length: 341mm, Width: 136mm - PP1621

Curiously; this is the same size/part no as the Pipercross filter for the 2.0L TDI 105bhp and 140bhp. Why therefore do Skoda have a specific part no. for it? I'll try and find out.

I can't believe that the replacement air filter will make a bit of difference. The only partial advantage may be that it is cleanable and so no longer a service consumable but is it worth loosing your warranty over?

It's not going to Cause any warranty issues unless you are unable to swap over a Standard Style Panel Filter.

It's not difficult, and a 5-mins Max. job...

The Panel Filters are proven to perform well on an otherwise Standard Induction system on the Vauxhall Engines (Which i am more familiar with TBH), Especially the VX V6's; so i can't see why it wouldn't improve on an otherwise Std vRS setup...

It shouldn't cause any warranty issues anyway as an airfilter is what's known as a consumable part and can be freely changed.

The aftermarket performance filters normally exceed the specifications details by the manufacturer.

Believe it or not they do make a differance too.

Unless you need to be picked up by a recovery vehicle!

Exceed which specifications - if they allow more airflow for the same surface area, the filtration must be less than the OEM filter.

The only difference they tend to make is they allow a bit more induction noise. They also cost

Performance Ford magazine did an Air Filter test on a S2 Escort RS Turbo, the most power gains were recored with the Standard Airbox and a K&N Panel Filter, around 5BHP (Testing was carried out on a Rolling Road)

So, i would imagine an increase on the vRS would be possible.

People can fit whatever they want to their own cars. I would rather save up a bit more and buy a remap. I'd rather have a good meal out than buy a "performace" air filter for a modern cars airbox come to think about it :D

What Panel filter have you experienced that makes more induction noise?

What Panel filter have you experienced that makes more induction noise?

Only time I've ever had induction noise from a pannel filter was on my Saab 93 2.0t, said filter was a JR one..... sounded bloomin ace, almost like a DV.

Every other car I've owned and put a pannel filter on has made no difference at all, in terms of induction noise. Performance wise is a different matter however ;)

ITG filter in my Impreza. You could hear more induction noise and more recirculation valve noise.

Sod all performance improvement though and I removed it after a few months after it was suspected that as they were oiled, they could damage the MAF.

So you won't fit a filter and risk the warranty but you'll be comfortable with a remap
