Bit of info for xenon owners.....

Featured Replies

I've just been on the phone to Skoda UK to confirm if the headlight protectors can now be fitted to cars fitted with xenon lights.......... I had an accesories leaflet that said they could be fitted to all fabia's except xenon fitted examples. I had spoken to the local dealer today about some parts i'm ordering and they mentioned that they were doing a deal on the headlight protectors and that they they were now fitting them to xenon cars.

I thought i'd check with Skoda UK with me having the leaflet saying the opposite to what the dealer had said and after checking it out they say that earlier this year the decision was made to OK the fitting of the protectors to xenon cars......

I know a few people have fitted them anyway but looks as though the official OK has now come through from Skoda UK.

Cheers

Dave.

This is good news.

For those who don't know what the problem was, I'll try to summarise:-

Because the xenons are so bright, there was a fear that the protectors would cause glare or deflect light into the sight of on-coming road users.

have you got a part number and price for these im interested in a set

Now then Jon that's what i thought the problem was....... BUT............

According to the guy @ SUK today the reason for the change of mind is apparently the issue with the heat damaging the protectors!!! He said that they have now changed the type of material used for the protectors and hence the OK has now gone out to use them with the xenon headlights........ How true this is is anyone guess....

Ohhhhhhh well as always..... As clear as mud.

I got mine very shortly after I bought my car... They've been on constantly since then with no problems.

I clean behind them weekly when I was the car.

I think i'm gonna get a set fitted when i call in on Thursday to pick up the parts i've ordered.

Josh....... Do you have to take them off to clean behind them or do you just run a cloth between the headlight glass and the protector???

Cheers

Dave.

should be having them fitted to mine when I pick it up :)
