Just can't put my finger on it....

:woot: battery is now very firmly bolted to the boot floor.

Managed to tidy up the electrics contained in the inner flap of the battery box into a nice tight bundle down just above the power steering top-up place. Now once the airbox is out the way, there'll be lots of room for "stuff"

Only downside of the move I've found so far is it takes about 0.1 to 0.2 seconds longer for the engine to crank over and burst into life. I think I can live with that...

Is it a screw in the air intake box?

Clean coolant ?

The voltage drop along the longer cable will be greater hence the delay.

I would have rewired the battery fuse box into the back as well personally, would look alot neater.

Soooo many wires to plumb through the car then though - Was way too scary a prospect even for my mechanic mate.... It looks OK there and will leave sufficient room for other ancilary fittings to be installed.

As you know, neatness is not something I worry about too much - This is why there's no pics of the installed battery in the boot. ;)

Is it a maintance free battery in the boot? Or have you vented it correctly?

The wiring wouldnt all needed to have gone back through the car, I have done them before and just fused things locally like the PAS and alternator wiring and left the small fuse box tucked away.

'tis vented. Tiny wee little hole coming off the top of the battery though. Apparently though the gases are not really harmful to ingest and mainly a risk to spontaneous combustion, being hydrogen based.

So is it venting anywhere?

They are corrosive so say good buy to your boot floor.

Venting through the floor itself, but fairly out of sight. It's earthed to one of the bolts going through the floor clamping it down. Brand new ring terminals fitted and the join at the bonnet end was a work of art. :D

So........

Does the car handle any better with it's more even weight distribution.?

What does the battery weigh?

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. You never cease to amaze me and amuse me. This is a compliment. Please keep doing the pioneering work and showing us the end result.

I have noticed the PD160 air intake is not connected to the trumpet.

Have i missed something?

Yak - I hope so - Weather not suitable for trying tonight. :grumpy: (I expect marginal improvements....)

Mouse - Cheers bud. :D Always like to try the different. Notice the blue bend? THat's whats stopping me using the trumpet bit. Allards path for the FMIC stops it being put back. Something totally different going in soon, all being well.

Nice :D

I was going to vent my boot-mounted battery in the Corsa, but never bothered...

You got those brakes off yet?? :P

Just get a solid state race battery in the back, much lighter and no need to vent.

Offered up a caliper, ordered and paid for a set of spacers and bolts... All being well will be available very very soon.
