will give them a go are the iridium better than standard?

The OEM NGK PFR6Q are good for 40K and have performed without problems with my Jabba remap. I opted to have the original set replaced at the second variable service - ie 4 years/18K - at which stage they showed minimal signs of wear and tear. I have kept them as spares.

Just ordered 4 NGK IX Iridiums on ebay for £25 inc post (BKR6EIX)

Denso Iridium SVK20RZ8 from the Oilman on this site.

They really do make a difference, and cheaper than the Skoda ones.

Will send you a pm very shortly.

Personally I've found the OE ones last about half the stated 40k miles before benefiting from replacement.

That would figure; the only time I've ever found plugs capable of lasting the recommended mileage (from service book) between changes was when upgrading a Cortina 2.0l from iron-core Champions to copper-core Bosch plugs back in 1984.
