Disappearing Boost Is Doing My Head In!!!!!

Featured Replies

Ok i have a problem that is quite literally doing my head in , I have a 2001 vrs and most of the time the turbo boost pins you back in your seat and the turbo whistles quite loud and satisfying but now sometimes when i put my foot down there does not seem to be any turbo boost and the engines sounds like a normally aspirated car and after a couple of miles everything is ok again is this because i put my foot straight to the floor or something else? . I try to run the car on super unleaded as often as i can but am concerned about this problem .

any help on this would be great ,thanks lads:thumbup:

Good old boost leak. Do a search on here for 17705, also switching the ignition off/on again should fix it temporarily. But to get to the route cause you need the fault codes read from the ECU.

cheers for the speedy reply and i see that the 17705 problem is a common one , but how does everyone know that the fault code is 17705 does this appear on the dash somewhere or do i have to buy a fault code reader to find this out? if so where do i buy one from? many thanks

you will need a fault code reader or VAG-COM to get the error code which im not mistaken just means a boost leak.

Just check your piping and connections to make sure unless someone will pop along with a VAG-COM who can help you out

I had this last night - very annoyingly whilst leaving a 30mph limit and trying to show my mate what a remap could do to his car

First time its done it in a long time - used to happen regularly until I changed the pipe.

Scottie - do a search in the octavia section for a thread that is titled along the lines of "where does this pipe go?" - that is the most common cause.

same problem with mine until i had two pipes changed under the plastic engine cover thingy, one was a s shaped hose about 6 inches long and half inch wide, the other was a twin outlet junction type thingy which had a huge hole in it, and i have a picture of where it is if you want it, i just cant work out how to get it on here...?
