Fabia 0-100

Featured Replies

The Fabia 1.475BHP auto takes 17.3 seconds from 0-60, does anyone know how long it takes to get to 100?

I don't even know if the top speed exceeds 100? - I would guess it would be in the region of 35 seconds?

Yes it does do 103, though It has done 115 on a slighly downhill carriageway after having an air injector cleaned. 35 seconds is ages, does anyone have the exact figure from skoda?

http://www.syclone.freeserve.co.uk/rivals_cars.htm

This site has various drag strip times, and the Fabia 1.4i quotes 39.9 seconds for 0-100mph. This could be for the 1.4 8v, and I think I'm right in saying the 75hp engine is a 1.4 16v (but with auto box?) So assume it takes less than 40 seconds... not a lot more help really is it? :D

By the way - just because a car such as a Jabba'd TDI can reach 60 in under 9 seconds, doesn't mean it will hit 100 in say 15 seconds. The acceleration rate will tail off hell of a lot trying to get from 60 to 100, which means this Jabba'd TDI probably won't hit 100 until 17 or 18 seconds, maybe more?

edited to say, "Bring it to Brunters and we'll do some proper tests." ;)

I doubt it'll even be as quick as 35-40 seconds IMO. Probably anywhere up to 50 seconds.

I've just re-read the details of the 1.4 Fabia on the drag-times site, and it says its the 99BHP one (which basically means its the manual 1.4 16v) - so a 75HP auto is going to be around 60 seconds I reckon, if a 100hp equivalent does it in 40 seconds...

The top speed for the Auto box Fabia is 105mph. Whether this is speedo indicated (in which case it doesn't reach 100) or GPS is unclear. Assuming the latter I'd say 50 secs to a minute is probably right Jason, remembering auto box....

I'd imagine the TDi can do it in about 25-30 seconds esp if it is in 4th gear till 100mph.

Any idea what a stock Fabia vRS is good for? 0-60 times and 0-100 times. I hear many people saying the vRS is better than 9.6 sec 0-60.

The Seat Ibiza TDI 130 does 0-100 in 24.6 seconds IIRC.

Jesus christ a minitue 0-100, Now I am seriously considering a superb. I don't know how old or outdated Vw's Auto tranny is but my guess is very for both. Has anyone noticed that it also Robs the diesel octy of good performance and pushes the co2 way too high for a 1.9 diesel!

Most cars with Auto's tend not to be too good in the speed stakes. The Fab only has a 1.4 75hp engine in it and has to lug a heavy car. 0-70 should be easy in 20secs maybe another 10s to 80mph then 15s to 90mph then 15s to 100mph and up to 110mph on your speedo if want to be going 100 true mph.

The 0-60 time should be reasonable, then the problem with the smaller engine kicks in. As you get closer to max speed the engine starts to run out of puff, so yes it will reach 105 but its going to take ages. Take the octy vRS for example, top speed is 143 but this is not the top of the revs in 5th (standard just cant get there) if it could hit the limiter in 5th you will be going close to 170.

I could easily, now I can't :(

Im still screwing over the minitue 0-100. In that time you could toast bread and butter it, If oyu were a real master you could put some Marmite on too.

Atleast it's not a 1.9JTD Fiat Doblo, which takes 20.2 seconds 0-60, There are few cars i can take the P&$! out of in terms of acceleration. I had difficulty overtaking a moped this morning. I I right in thinking though that all 3 1.4's have 93/lbs ft of torq?

I could easily, now I can't :(
Which begs the question, Jon, as to how fast it does go?

I think the song "out of touch" by Hall and Oates should be dedicated to the Saloon fabia, lets face it it's the weakest link, fairly ugly and has a scarily sloppy ride, I have NEVER seen a Fabia saloon on the road apart from mine, when I accidently left it in drive and got out, Even then I managed to outrun it, on a cold morning with the choke on full, when it creeps at about 10mph!

I can see why Skoda don't even bother offering 3 different trims and the full engine range on the saloon. If you want one you should get a good price as you will probably the first person to ask a dealership for one!

There is a very small market for saloons in the UK market, unless they are family cars like the passat or Mondeo, but a compact saloon!

"You're out of touch (Me)....I'm out of time (The fabia saloon has a voice)

A superbs on it's way, Shake it up is all that it knows! Im out of my head trying to find a good used deal...."

Atleast it's not a 1.9JTD Fiat Doblo, which takes 20.2 seconds 0-60,

Take a look at the times for the Nissan Serena diesel - seem to recall the 2.3d is about 29 seconds to 60, and the 2.0d is just over 30 seconds.

With regard to your original point - surely you didn't buy a 1.4 auto Fabia with the view to taking it drag racing? So if it's too slow for you, then you bought the wrong car! :D

It's called an Impulse buy Rob!

I suppose any car is fast really, I cant run to 60 in 17.3 seconds!

I will be patient in buying a Superb, I have my heart set on the 1.8T, though a 2.5V6 would be good, which one is faster?

IIRC the 2.5 V6 is 193bhp, so is faster than the 150bhp 1.8T. However, not much tuning to be had from the 2.5V6... :D

I don't think Ill be tuning a Superb, it's just not that sort of car, it's.... elegant and sophisticated and it's a Skoda, perhaps why they only sell 75 a year!

I think you'll find they shift a few more than 75 per year mate. I seem to recall fleet sales alone of 1200 or so last year :)

Yeah fleets, I mean private average joe customers, fleet purchases are the reason they depriciate rather badly! But at least fleets realise they are getting a VW with a few quid knocked off the list price

every other taxi driver in Newcastle has a superb..the rest all have octavias :)

it took me ages to get booked into Benfield Skoda to have them look at my central locking, because all the blimmin taxi drivers get all their work/servicing done there and its always busy!

Do you still get free servicing/warranty if the vehicle is used for commercial purposes?
