My Octavia has locked me out..

Featured Replies

Ive been so unlucky, have had a weird chain of things happens to me now. Hope anyone knows how to help.

It started with the usual carkey, its battery went out. And my girlfriend had 2 days before placed reserve key in car. I went to shop and bought a new battery and thought problem solved. But now the carkey dont work. I got a car rescue firm to come help me, but impossible to open car from outside. After a while we managed to get reserve key out from car(trough steel string), and opened the car with it. Now i did somethin really stupid, i took the new battery and placed it in reserve keys, so now both my keys is malfunction(They seem to lose memory when replacin battery, anyone experienced same?).

The car has only 2 mechanial locks, 1 behind and 1 in front left door and both of em are malfunction too  .

I managed to open hood to disable car battery, and thought it might disable the SAFE-function from door lock, so i could open door from ouitside tru a steel wire. But it didnt help, the car autolock door even with carbattery disabled.

Anyone have some tips?

regards torkil

Its a year 2000 modell, 1.8t btw.

sorry to hear about the problems...before letting the dealer drill it,see if they can do anything using the key numbers. If not consult a good locksmith that specialises in auto locks - in a previous job I called on locksmiths a lot and they do a huge amount of work for many of the main dealers who often know very little about locks.(this is not knocking Skoda dealers I refer to most car makes)

good luck

All this and only your second post. You poor bugger. For a start change your thread title to 'Big K Please Help!' and he may spot it and help you out via a PM. Otherwise I would guess it's a call out from the dealer (to fix without drilling if possible). Going on the model year I would guess you don't have the free AA membership?

I seem to recall that the remote keyfobs lose their settings if the battery is removed for longer than a minute or two - or maybe even less. I think that you need dealer assistance to recode both key to the car. But first, have you read the information at the front of the Owner's Manual about locking and unlocking, and also about synchronising the car key code?

Rich, does the AA do callouts in Sweden?

Yes but I think they charge.

No one told me he was bloody Swedish did they?

Yes i have thought of that, i agree it is a better alternative than let car dealer work on it for sure.

Right, i gonna try that, i can give it some time, maybe he spots this thread first

Thx! :D

If it was me, i'd be tempted to bang out a side window & get it replaced on the insurance before i started drilling locks.

Torkil, do you have any glass cover on your car insurance over there ?

Get it trailered to Liverpool. The nice folk there will soon have it open!

Steve

PS Agree with MonkeyHanger - smashing windows sounds a lot better than drilling locks!

Actually, I believe Manchester currenlty holds the crown as car crime capital of the UK, best go there or London, which also suffers from more car crime than Liverpool :)

Dave.

And with a name like "Dodgy", you should know :D

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Effing hilarious.

Thanks Rich

let me get this stright. your locked outside of the car your keys do not open the lock with either press button or mancanical. (does the key turn the barrel in the lock?) is the red light flashing on door trim panel? (shows if in safe mode or not)

I know i have very few options now, 1. get car to dealer so they can drill lock up, or 2. me doin it myself. Im afraid of doin more damage to car, but if its not to hard then its better me do it for free, cause it will cost pretty much first gettin car there, and then they fix it.

Anyone have some tips before i start?

The key turns barrel in door lock, but it only goes round and round. And key cant get into rear trunk lock, cause its pbly loaded of dirt wich i cant remove.

The red light was flashin till i managed to open hood with steel wire, and removed earth from battery. If i set earth on Battery again, its no light anymore.

Yes both keys in my hand now. The reserve key was in car, but we managed to get it to front door and opened car again with that key. After that i locked car and went inside apartment. There i took the new battery from first key, and placed it into reserve key, and now none of em works. But both flash a red light while pressin buttons.

Both mechanicals locks on car(there are only 2 on car, 1 on drivers door, and 1 back in trunk) are destroyed for some reasons, i never used em till i needed em now.

I have thought of one thing, there is a open/close door switch inside car, placed same place as window opener, wonder if they are affected by SAFE-mode. I tried to push em with steel wire, but could not get enough momentum on it. But if u think it works, i maybe should give it a harder try.
