Octavia 07 - Stream Audio

Featured Replies

Hi

I've just bought an 07 Octavia Ambiente 2.0 PD and am very happy so far. There is one query I have, I was under the impression that this model could playback mp3 cds (just the head unit) on the Stream player. However when I load an mp3 disc the player reads it correctly as a CD-ROM and then just ejects it. Is mp3 playback possible on this player or is it on the Audience player in the Elegence model ? If it can play mp3s is there a specific mp3 codec or bitrate that must be used to allow playback.

Thanks in advance for any comments

The stream in your octy should play MP3s. The HU should say Stream MP3 on the front. If it does not I would take it up with the dealer.

If you don't have a stream MP3 then I would say it is highly likely that you have an old stock car. I which case there may be other things that you are missing out on and may want to take up with your dealer.

My car has Stream MP3, pretty good, too. I've made an experiemental disk containing several albums in individual and nested folders and I'm able to navigate with ease through the structure. I'm quite impressed and would be pretty annoyed if my 2007 MY car didn't have it if I'd seen it in action on someone elses car.

Dave.

Thanks for the replies so far. The car was an x showroom car un-registered, I bought it about 3 weeks ago and waited till March to get the 07 plate. It was advertised as an Ambiente model, it also had an extra auto dimming rear viewing mirror which should be part of the elegence spec. The label on the stereo states Stream, and doesn't mention MP3. I'm guessing this then means its the old spec and can't play MP3s. Since the car was an ex showroom model and sold as seen there is probably little I can do. Overall the price was good so I'm not too troubled.
