Under bonnet insulation

Featured Replies

I have noticed that my new TFSI doesn't have any under bonnet insulation, whereas the ones I have seen on Parker's do.

Should it be there (07MY car)?

Ta

Usually only fitted to diesels.

Do you mean inside the bonnet lid or some additional sound proofing?

Yep, the one on the underside of the bonnet lid.

I thought it might be diesels only, but I think the photos on Parkers include an FSI?

I have it on mine.

Yep mine too March 2006 TFSI

Steve

Mine has it aswell, early 2006 model

Thanks guys.

How about those with 2007MY cars?

I would get it checked out with your dealer as I'm almost certain it's meant to be there, perhaps have a look at one in the showroom or demo model to confirm your suspiscions?.

mine is 2007MY

Thanks - looks like a trip to the dealer is needed.

Just Caught up after being away .... mine does not have the insulation.

How did you get on Rob at the stealers?

I called them late last week - they thought that is shouldn't be one, but I asked them to check.

I haven't heard back yet, so will chase this week.

Got my petrol vrs on Saturday. What an improvement on the old Leon :D Anyway, I don't have the insulation either. It sounds as if they have started not putting it on. Is it there only for sound proofing? Is it so we hear the engine better when we give it some wellie?

i got my petrol vrs last month it never had the insulation either i think they might have stopped fitting it

Picked up a new Octavia vRS today in Sydney, Aus ... no under bonnet insulation although the clips are there.

The dealer checked other cars and they all have it except for the other vRS in the showroom.

Doesn't seem right ...

My Australian delivered vRS doesnt have it either..........does anyone have a part number so we can chase one?

Cheers

Dave.

Does the TFSI vRS come with the undertray?

The sound deadner is 1Z0 863 831.

If you need the clips they are - 1H5 863 849 A 9B9 you need 12

The TFSi should have an undertray.

Does it actually do anything for the good when it is fitted?

The underside of the hood certainly picks up the dirt after two years of gentle driving.

I have it on my 2008MY 2.0L diesel Octy L&K.

I just liked the look of it. I had it on my first one but the second one arrived without it so I bought it.

Had 2 vRS's neither of them had it.

It reduces heat from the engine being passed into the bonnet (hood) which overtime can effect the paint finish. They also reduce resonating sound in the bonnet itself being passed through the car. I am hoping for a reduction in incar noise levels after I fit one.

Cheers

Dave.

Dave, keep us posted on how you find things once you have it fitted.

It is not engine noise which is the problem on the Octavias, but that of road noise being transmitted to the cabin space.
