Parrot CK3100 in Fabia

Featured Replies

I have just bought a Parrot CK3100 bluetooth phone unit and will be fitting it in my Fabia Elegance next weekend. It is very cramped behind the radio (I have a Pioneer DEH-P77MP head unit). I have a GPS cradle on the right of my steering wheel.

Where have people placed the display and microphone? What has been done about tucking away the control box and chunky cable looms? Does anyone have any pictures?

There have been a few threads about this recently, but in my case the unit was fitted underneath the cover somewhere near the ashtray (the transmission tunnel I suppose). Microphone was fitted in the middle near the courtesy light, wire probably to left or right etc.

The display was fitted onto the supplied bracket, in turn fitted to a blanking plate in the row of switches above the HU.

Sorry no pictures :(

I have just fitted the Parrot CK3100 bluetooth phone unit. The control unit doesn't quite fit in the centre console under the dashboard - but it does slip neatly inside the centre console down by the side of the gear lever. In fact, it is so snug, it didn't need any tape. I have put the display discretely behind the steering wheel. It is only just visible, and barely visible at all to prying eyes.

It all went smoothly, just connecting everything as per instructions. I already had a Pioneer headunit installed, so no swapping of red & yellow wires was required. The centre console had to be unscrewed, but not completely removed. The wrap-around bit at the front under the heater controls could then be shifted.

The main problem was poking the mess of wires, connectors and inline boxes behind the head unit. I tied some string to the cable bunch near the headunit and dropped the other end through the recess into the foot well. I poked as much of the cables behind the dash as I could and, as I pushed the headunit in, I pulled on the string to guide the cables through the back of the recess.

The Parrot works really well, but the microphone could be more sensitive. I have it at the top of the A column and the volume turned to maximum. It couldn't be much closer. Anyone else find it quiet?

It depends a bit on the phone as well annoyingly, but I know what you mean. The microphone is definitely the weakest spot of the kit.

Good pics :thumbup:

Honestly the easiest and most effective place to put *ANY* car kit box in the Fabia is behind the glove box.

If you drop the box out (5 Screws) you will notice the back it is insulated and a lot narrower thatn the rest of it. All you need to do is rest the control box right on top of it either with some double sided tape or velcro.

This position means it is ideally placed to access the wiring to the stereo which is about 8 inches away (And there is access from this area to the back to the unit) and also it's a lot easier to run the mic wire up the pillar and across the top of the windscreen by here;

The display can be placed thus;

It's just about the right distance away as well.

I had considered that because someone mentioned it before (maybe it was you) - and easier access to the back of the radio would be appreciated. However, isn't the passenger airbag around there somewhere?

Nope.

That's right on top of the glovebox. Take it out (Watch the rubber hose and light cable) and you will see :thumbup:

I dropped it down some time back, looking for space to install some old hands free kit, but I obviously didn't notice it. I did notice some available space at the left side of the dash, under the panel corresponding to the fusebox cover. Also, I have my SatNav power adapter (usb) lodged in the fusebox and soldered to the downstream side of a fuse :eek:

I may consider shifting the control box if I ever need to move the headunit again. The glove box installation is worth it just to get to the back of the headunit.

I'm with decron.

I installed it there in my Octy MK I and when the air bag went off the air bag was all fine and the car kit was the least of my worries. Oddly enough the blue box survived, just other bits like the screen didn't

This is where I put mine:

All of the other gubbins I put up behind the glovebox (as said above) and the mic I put on the A pillar, by feeding it under the drivers side of the dash, up past the fuse box and under the trim.

Worked fine for me :)

How do you attach the remote (caller id unit) to the dash. Is there a bracket supplied or is it a case of drilling a hole in the plastics ???????

Mine, right next to the wheel in the picture above, is held with the double-sided sticky tape supplied. I think this is the best position, just as the microphone on the A pillar is. As others have said, I probably didn't choose the best place for the blue box.
