Diamond silver paint - vRS

Featured Replies

Tried touching up a few stone chips today with one of those touch up kits from Halfrauds.

I used a size 00 brush from Hobbycraft and so applying the paint was not a problem (it would've been if I'd have tried using one of those trowels that comes with the paint kit) but my issue is the colour itself.

The new silver is darker than the rest of the cars paintwork which I hear is a problem when it comes to matching up silver paint. I've ended up with a few dark spots where I've covered the chips.

Does anyone know of a good colour match for the silver Fabia and where I could get it from? Do dealers stock such things?

Thanks,

Chris.

Your dealer does indeed supply touch up paint, about £6.50 for a small tube of paint and laquer iirc.

Should be a far better colour match than anything that Halfords can supply.

What's the colour match like? Anyone tried the dealer supplied silver?

Ideally I'd like it a little lighter than the stuff already on the car so it wont be as obvious when touching up.

I only ever use dealers touch up pens / brushes...... I've used the black pearl on mine after i had the break-in as there were a few marks on the door where pieces of glass caught the bodywork. The match is spot on...... I had a VW silver touch up kit when i had the Polo and that was spot on too.

Cheers

Dave.

I have used the genuine dealer supplied skoda touch up kits on my Octavia. I thought it was a pretty good match TBH.

Another vote for the dealer. Never use the off the shelf product in Halfords, I have always found the match poor not matter what car or colour.

If you must use halfords, take your paint code over to the parts desk and they will mix some there and then. The custom mixed paints always seem better for some reason. I had to use this service with my old mondeo as the colour was no longer available and the match was perfect.

Brilliant, that's all that I needed to hear. :)

I'll pay a visit to the dealer this week to pick some up. Bloody rubbish Halfrauds muck....totally different colour. Pah.

Many thanks guys. Much appreciated.
