Anyone recommend a people carrier??

Featured Replies

We are seriously looking at getting a people carrier now and trading in the Octy 2 which we've had for nearly two years.

However we want a carrier with a big boot but with the option of 7 seats.

Yesterday I looked at a Corolla Verso that had 7 seats...and no boot. With 5 seats there is less boot space than the Octavia. Bear in mind we have a double buggy plus changing bag plus shopping when we get it, so boot space is a must.

Do any people carriers have a boot with 7 seats up, or only when there are five.

Zafiras pose the same problem, plus the fact they fall to pieces like our 2 year old work car.

It seems the running is a VW Sharran, SEAT Alhambra or Galaxy...even though I hate Fords, I'd love an S-Max but they are very overpriced IMO.

Its such a shame Skoda dont do one as we'd probably go for that...better the devil you know.

Anyone got any other suggestions or experiences.

Can spend up to around

VW Touran

VW Touran

I'd second that, especialy with that sort of budget. Very good sized boot when in 5 seat mode and a decent range of engines and spec's to choose from -year after year rated best in class till the S-Max came along as well

Renault Espace?

Bloody good drive too, great cars.

2.0TDI Sport

I must admit I love the look of the Touran, especially in diesel format. Cheers.

No....not heard any good reports on these, plenty of faults old and new.

Even though they have huge boots with all seats up, so may be worth a look but more than likely out of our budget

Test drive one, you will be very supprised. Drive them about all day at work, hardly see any in with probles, good solid cars

Kia Sedona. 2.9 litre Mercedes TDI engine with 183BHP. 2 captains chairs at the front, 2 captains chairs int middle and a big bench at the back. 2 x sliding doors either side and can swallow a three seat sofa with all the rear seats out.

Nice comfortable drive as well. It's the only car I've ever driven from Sheffield to St Ives (7hrs) and got out feeling refreshed and alert with no aches and pains. 2nd hand - much cheapness.

Please read my first post re Kia

Touran is nice having driven one for a while, however I am going to get stoned for this...

At least test drive the kia carens with the 2l diesel engine.

IMHO is it a good car although that was just with me driving it is worth a look.

Ford Tourneo - the only one that's not a minibus trying to pretend it's a car!

My Dad's got the 2.0TDI Sport model.... with DSG.... plus a remap.... goes rather well for an MPV, quite a few BM 318 drivers have found that out when trying to park in his boot on the motorway.

Must say I quite enjoy driving it now and again, the most suprising thing is the way they go round corners... very well, on a par with a non GTI Golf which considering its van like build and height is quite an achievement I think.

Zafira GSi

The GSi is great and quite understated. Or if you're feeling a bit Max Powery, the VXR is a stonking car :D

Does any VXR not struugle to put the power down?

One thing I have noticed you see bugger all VXR's on the road... must have seen about 2 Astra VXR's since launch and that's it. Have yet to spot any other VXR models

why not just get a minibus?
