We'll probably get it eventually.

We are only just catching up with the continent with the new spec L&K, they have had it for ages.

I'd go for one as well.

Just seen the price for a scout TDI:eek:    Why is it nearly two grand more than a petrol model??? Guess that would mean this little baby would be well over the

Do they make them in RHD?

If so import :)

Import from where???

My queries have so far proved fruitless........

Cyprus?

I do hope that one pictured still has the suspension chocks in!

Steve

Nope the 4x4 has higher suspension as std

Looks nice. I would buy one if I did not want a vRS.

I would imagine that if Skoda built it for Cyprus in right hand drive they would be offering it here too. Cant see the Cyprus market justifying manufacture in RHD alone. Prob. down to see how it sells and if we think we can sell enough in RHD we will build it. Here's hoping anyway:O

I may be mistaken but I'm sure that many years ago when car prices here were considerably more than on continental Europe it was the fashion for a short while to conisder importing from A N Other EU country.

I'm sure that they had to supply a RHD car if you asked for it but the thing that "Which" and other consumer mags warned you about was that a Dutch/French/Whatever country you placed your order in "LX" wouldn't neccessarily be the same as a UK "LX." In this case that's not a problem as you consider the spec to be superior to rather than inferior to the UK equivalent.

Sooo... Rather than going to a RHD country to import just ring a French or Dutch Skoda Dealer (ideally at or near a UK connected port) and place your order (assuming they have the same spec as Skoda Germany).

There are of course lots of forms to fill in doing this and a dealer may refuse to order the spec you want in RHD if it could damage their relationship with Skoda directly.

I would draw your attention to this article and the all important bit about ordering RHD

Scare story: You can't get right-hand drive

It's actually against European legislation for a dealer to refuse to sell you a right-hand-drive car. In practice some may make it difficult' date=' by quoting long delivery times or finding a language barrier - but there are plenty of dealers who will be perfectly happy to find and sell you a right-hand-drive car.

I must admit I did wonder about trying to import a RHD Diesel Mk1 Octy 4x4 some years ago, but never had the cash to buy a car brand new.

Currently starting to save pennies for a Scout to replace my current car in a few years (I could actually do with the ground clearance). We've just passed 128,000 miles so it isn't really worth selling now so I might as well run it till it dies (which I have a feeling will be longer than I reckon......)

Thats fine but it would be very difficult ordering a model spec in RHD that is not available in RHD, OK it wouldn't be hard to build it but if you tried to order it and the Computer says no, the computer says no and that would be the end of the order. Its different to ordering say a Scout at a Berlin dealer in RHD because the factory is set up to supply RHD Scouts but that isnt the case with 4x4 L&K's at the moment.

Indeed. But by way of a simplified made-up example.

What I understood to be the case was that say you ordered a "Trim2" in Holland you would get a Holland version of "Trim2" which for example would be elec windows in front only and climate control.

If you placed your order for a "Trim2" in the UK you would get elec windows all round but only air con.

The important bit being that both cars would be RHD.

I've not seen the Skoda factory but at a tour of the Massey Ferguson factory in Coventry many moons ago each tractor was made to a specific order rather than a model line. I.e.. the line was of 300 series tractors some of which would become 390s and some 360s etc.

You're probably right though that the computer at the factory won't have been inputted with the configuration you want. Assuming that you can find a dealer to take your order anyway.

Anyone got £20k spare to try the system?

yes I have :)

I've bought Seats from Holland & Ireland and saved approx

I have vRS suspension on my 4x4 since two weeks ago.

what was the cost of the swap ? did they just change the springs or the whole setup ?

what was the cost of the swap ? did they just change the springs or the whole setup ?

How did they make it fit is a more pertinant question, the rear set up on the 4x4 is totally different to the RS. None of the aftermarket RS suspensions will fit the 4x4 so Im amazed the std one did !!

Think it must be just the springs then.

Sorry. I meant springs. Standard vRS springs are fitted and there was no problem at all (3 hour). H&R have springs to 4x4 but they will drop more.
