front struts

Featured Replies

I have a 55 plate 2.0 fsi sport, the front struts need replacing and I'm told they are not covered by the warranty. Have done pretty high miles, just short of 60k.

Has anyone managed to get them replaced for free....or do I have to stump the ridiculous parts and labour bill....

This sort of thing was debated recently over some bushes on a Fabia. IMHO they are a wear item and thus at 60k wouldn't be a warranty item. However the Skoda new car warranty does stipulate that the first two years are unlimited miles, conversely do you expect them to replace your tyres FOC for the first two years -

Maybe try another dealer.

It has done 60,000 miles now but I originally questioned the 'choppy' ride quality about 20, 000 miles ago as the car seemed to mimick a boat sitting on a undulating sea ( sorry for that description) when doing motorway speeds. Also when driving at speed it suffers from sudden direction change if you hit the smallest of bumps.

The steering also seems as if you are forcing it against it's will when cornering at town speeds and occasionally you get a feeling the steering is loose and kinda snatches on uneven surfaces.

I would point out it was cracking to drive and by far outhandled my old mk4 golf 1.8t when I first got it.

Now it's a different story..........

Any ideas as to a good budget suspension package, fk do several (approx

Koni FSD kits don't lower at all unless combined with a spring kit such as Eibach so might be worth a look. A good price was recently offered by JKM in their section.
