The King is dead

So, the title of this thread alludes to, is Lewis Hamilton the new heir apparent? Or will Jenson Button come good later in the season if Honda sort out their car.

Just watched the F1 Qualifying session and was very impressed by the young Lewis Hamilton. It was the first time in quite a while I got really excited about a British driver. I really think that this guy is the real deal, great drive and it

Have to agree, Young Hamilton Looked to be all they have said he was.

But lets see how it goes in a few races, before we start hailing the next world beater ;).

.

I'm expecting Lewis to be able to win a race at some point this year, but reckon that will be partly down to luck, given that he's got to beat 2 Ferraris and Fernando in order to do it (and yes I do think that Filipe would have out-qualified him had he not had a gearbox "issue").

Hamilton has more ability than Button can ever dream of in my view.

He's a natural winner as his CV proves and there is a greater variety in his racing history than JB.

He was a winner at all levels of karting during a six year karting career, two years of formula Renault and he was 3rd one year and 1st the next, F3 Euroseries for two year and he was 5th (I think) the first year and 1st the second year, and then a year in GP2 whic he won.

JB's 3 karting title, one Formula Ford title and 3rd in British F3 championship doesn't look as impressive.

The thing about Hamilton is, he has this strange quiet confidence about him and this half smile that plays around his lips, a bit like a crocodile in some ways. He reminds so much of a modern Schumacher. At the post race interview whilst Alonso and that miserable little blond bloke looked pink and flustered, to say nothing of sweaty. There was Hamilton quietly biding his time fresh as a Daisy, no sweat or even marks from hi helmet on his face.

He has to win the championship if he gets a decent car and i'm sure will beat alonso at soem point during the season on his own merit.

One worrying thing is that that pillock Mosley wants to bring back ESP etc into the cars. Great! just what we need for good overtaking.................I don't think.:(

well I reckon that idiot in the wheelchair is responsible for Jenson

not getting decent results ...... he signed up Jenson gave him a few

runs in the williams and just as he was getting some good results ....

farmed him out to some tinpot teams .... wasted Jensons talent for a

few years ...... put Jenson in a decent car and see what he can do ...

anyway good luck to Lewis ......... I will be shouting for him & Jenson

this year

I reckon Lewis has great potential, bit early in the season but sure showing great signs so far :)

It will keep Alonzo under some significant pressure for sure :)

I can

I watched some of the GP2 races last year, (far more interesting than F1 generally) and watching Hamilton in those he was far and away the best driver, F1 is a big step up in tallent surrounding him and the cars involved but judging by his results so far big things are ahead for this chap.

I also hope that Honda get their car sorted so that JB can compete on occasion.

Who can drive a computer contolled car in a procession?

I'd like to nominate my Godson Lewis.. He's 5
