helped required, please ....

Our dear old skoda felicia classis 1.3 last nigt developed a fault , on the passenger door lock,

somebody tried to break in and have managed to damage the driver lock, when you put the key in it just turns , but if you go around to the passenger door and lock the car it operates the central locking ok .. any ideas plase....

also last night when we went shopping we unlocked the door as normal from the passenger side but when we went to lock nothing happens , so our daughter had to lock the car from the inside and climb out through the boot..... funny thing is you can unlock the car as normal from the passenger side but it will not lock with the key , the only way to lock the car is to push thwe door lock button from the inside and climb out through the boot ..... any ideas would b helpfull before we go out and buy new locks ect , have ready through several other posts on here and took the door pannels off this morning but could n ot find anything wrong as such, mind you i might of been looking at the wrong bits..

many thanks fopr reading and replying ..

On the end of the lock barrel the part that transmits the turn from the lock to the lever breaks up, sometimes the lever breaks. Attached to this lever is the rod which is connected to the lock/latch mechanism. The scrotes could have had a go at both locks. You need to remove the locks to find out exactly what part is broken. The fiddly part on assembly is reconnecting the plastic sockets onto the ball joints, long nosed pliers and patience are required.

You can only buy complete locks at about

Why not get out of the car as normal, then open a back door lock the other 3 doors and finally slam lock the open back door?, easier than clambering out of the boot.

Just make sure you don't leave your keys in the ignition doing it this way

Damn, my drivers door lock broke today, had to use the passenger door lock to operate the central locking.

had a quick look and can't really tell if there's a lever on the lock broken, all the rods appear to be correctly attached, when you turn the key you can see the end of the barrel turning but it doesn't move any of the rods

If it's not raining tomorrow evening, i'll check the passenger lock and see if i can fathom how it works and if any parts are fitted that are now missing on the drivers side

unfortunately there are no locks on ebay at the moment and Butts only sell locks up until 1997

I was hoping it was one of the white plastic rod connectors that had broken or came off :(

One of the doorlocks on my old Felicia broke. Changed it for a later type which fits OK, but you end up with an extra key.

Andy

if you want to keep the same key you can transfer the bits you need from the new to the old locks

Hope this is so,

comparing the passenger side to the drivers side, i can see there is a metal lug broken off the back of the barrel, it's this bit that pushes down the connecting rod to the door catch.

This is an old thread now but i finally got a lock from a scrapper on ebay.

thanks fordfan, the end of the lock was transferable, i can finally lock my drivers door properly and use my original key.:)

there seems to be a spate of break ins on older skoda s at the moment . i know of a street where 3 were done in one night . all were attempted thefts not just nicking contents.
