Nice Hobby to have....

Making nuclear fusion...

In 2006 Thiago Olson joined the extremely sparse ranks of amateurs worldwide who have achieved nuclear fusion with a home apparatus. In other words, he built the business end of a hydrogen bomb in his basement. The plasma "star in a jar"

And a bit scary too if I

And they are concerned about people speeding  - I'd have that rather than having a bit of a fusion bomb - maker in my backyard

Did anyone see that episode of horizon called "End day"

If not, its a good watch.. its on google video HERE

Basicaly it was several "stories" with different endings, speculating on how the world could end.. the most interesting one was to do with a particle accellerator, sucking the earth into a black hole in a couple of seconds..

maybe its not one to watch if you can get a bit paranoid

shouldnt he be hanging around shops smashing up telephone boxs at his age

Surely implying he's built a nuclear bomb is going a bit far?

Could be fun :P

Good work fella! I like the way that his track and field running takes presidence over the weekend hobby of Nuclear Physics. lol.

You mean potential world domination?

Hey, it's nuclear fusion, not fission he's achieved which is even more impressive :D

I take my hat off to him. It shows dedication and careful thought to do that (not that I've tried  ).

Also, in this time of energy crisis, a lot more people and particularly the US should be looking into energy creation from nuclear fusion.

If they were to spend all the money currently spend "securing oil revenues" on developing nuclear fusion, the world would be cleaner and safer :)

Aye, CERN will be switching on at around November time a new hadron colider which, technically makes a little black hole. But their work has helped the medical world out alot so mustnt grumble

Does anyone know when the next bus to a safer universe is leaving? What with the Hoodies and Ch4vs and now Black Holes, I think it

I know! It's so lame. yeah, well there's a possibility of the destruction of the entire earth, but rest assured, it probably won't happen*

*unless it actually does. T&C's apply

I'm thinking the modded version at the end of part one

:eek::rofl:

Do CERN have a Gordon Freeman working for them?

If so, we're all safe!

They already are working on it, the ITER project is building a reactor in the south of France. :)

And how the heck did homeland security allow him to get all the components?

Because they're not really interested in security.

I've made methane :)
