How would i know if my Struts are going or gone?

(the ones in the boot)

The boot lid would not stay up on its own.

and you might see an oily/greasy discharge where the rod comes out of the tube.

Yes you would know as the boot lid would drop on your head to remind you

Thank you all.

When it is in the up position it stays there, but when you move it a bit it soon starts to drop.

Struts are softish then; new ones almost require you to step back so as to not get hit on the chin by the door going up!

They should be just over £30 each.

We get them from the suppliers for about £5 each at work, for a similar sized unit. Sadly thought, they don't fit. Shows how much the dealer mark up is, as Skoda will pay a lot less then a fiver too.
