ok taken back to dealer and they say I have to buy a new coil pack, rechecked on vag com and all the shorts have gone but the misfires remain.

Is there anything I can check before forking out on a new coil pack, (cleaning it, etc)

also any one know of any fitting guides? are they hard to fit?

Search on here you may find the info to get one FOC.

VAG-COM shows a misfire on the No 2 cylinder and a dealer has diagnosed a faulty coil pack using their dedicated diagnostic equipment. Coil packs are not repairable so you will need to buy a replacement and, at less than £30, they are not expensive. They are also straightforward to replace in the case of No 1 and 2. (Nos 3 and 4 require a small amount of dismantling to get at them). See below for what to do:

NB: Please restrict queries to a single thread. This one is currently running in two which can get very confusing.

I was thinking the same thing. But that shouldn't bring up lambda probe faults iirc, but it does look like someone had been pulling off sensors trying to find a cylinder miss fire doesn't it.

Nice guide Denis.

Well changed teh coil pack and car is fine now, went to a very very nice audi garage to get the part as both Skada and VW had them on back order.

I still have the concern about the short to grounds could the failing coli pack cause those fault or have those faults caused the coil pack to fail?

Thanks again for your help the guide was fantastic and it only took me 5 mins to fit.

With luck the replacement coil pack will have fixed the misfire permanently. I would do a precautionary VAG-COM check once a week for a couple of weeks to see if any faults return.

Could you please post the part number of the replacement and the price so that I can update a list elsewhere. And have a look on the back of the invoice to see if you have 24 months warranty for that new part. Skoda dealers give 12 months.

Right the car is back to how it was when I started the other thread, judder if you give it low throttle (fine if you floor it) not great when the wife and kids are in the car as I get told off for flooring it and the MPG is still on about 20mpg.

The coil pack was part 06B 905 115R (the one removed was 06B 905 115H) it was

sorry about the 2 thread's I am used to posting in IT forums where diffrent people read diffrent sections. the thread started out asking for help on the judder and mpg (problem still there), but while trying to diagnose I had the coil pack go and the new codes raised which was why I started the other thread.

again, I was not aware it was an issue, sorry.

Every rule has its exceptions and this is now clearly such a case! It doesn't look like your problems are going to be resolved in this Diagnostics forum so I have reopened your other thread so that you can continue there. Please cut and paste relevant parts of recent posts from here to the Octavia thread so that the complete picture is there and lets see if any more advice is forthcoming. :)
