Why do you need to provide your details? Surely it's all on their databases already? ANPR each car and automatically send fines out.

Anyway, you won't get caught by traffic police, they're both back at the station writing up reports. Gatso's don't see me on my mobile driving with my knees whilst enjoying my Big Mac

Well you could do this and hope in vein that these parasites will pay the fine. But you also want to nail the actual driver of the car who is breaking the law i.e. you drive without MOT & Ins you get the fine/caution/arrested i.e. its a criminal record which never gets wiped off their records, no matter what they say oh that only stays on for 5 years

Police bogged down by Red tape that Labour for you.

I pay my car tax in full   and even if I didn't it would not make me stupid or unintelligent, think ....I know it's hard for you.

again why the intelligence remarks? do you have some sort of issue? making out people are unintelligent all the time....does it make you feel better about yourself?

:finger:

Have you got any intelligent remarks about the topic? If not just don't post

We could start a new thread called "Welshy against the world" and you could have a slanging match against people who post on there if you like?

Well lets put it like this a number of people have rpelied on this thread saying that they do so they are paying

some people can't pay the full whack at once...does that make then stupid? or unfortunate?

you don't know other peoples situations.

you are just coming across very arrogant and sound more uninteligent every post you make.

Ive given advice about how you should budget for the road tax and all other known future costs - so put aside

I just read this again and it makes me really ROFL - I dont know their situation my god if you are being serious and think youngsters & others who cannot afford a measly

I do like the current laws - if the police catch you with their in car gatzo linked to the DVLA database they stop you demand you produce the MOT cert & Ins cert & your licence.

If you dont they will within 7 days destroy the car.

Hmm...so all the police will have is the VRM for a vehicle which probably isn't registered to the real keeper at a real address. How are they going to track someone down if they don't turn up after 7 days?

The car is crushed on the 7th day. The owner is stopped in the vehicle and they get their details there & then if they lie & the police dont realise this when taking the details then it could easliy be a robbery stabbing etc. Usually they check it up against the electoral register & if you have had a previous conviction then your details are all up there.

If you lie and get caught they are going to keep digging deeper until they find out the truth.

Er, is that once it's been found at the address where the owner doesn't live?

Not at all they impound the car straight away and the only way within 7 days for you to get it out is to produce the documentation. Which they already know you dont have so you'd have to get it insured and taxed. Im uncertain as to what happens with cars without MOT's i.e. clearly you cannot get an MOT cert if it doesnt have one. So do they allow you to take it to a Govt Test centre or if its clearly an old banger they may just crush it anyway.

Look, lets just agree to dissagree on the tax subject, I think it's better this way.

Hang on there, older cars generally have a higher tax per year than newer ones. A pre 2001 fiesta zetec is

keep it up, I find it very odd that you seem to revel in paying more on tax and interest payments.

Are you just devoid of any intelligence

OK Taff. I will if you will!!;)

oi less of the racism chris!:P

Are amounts for diesels the same as petrols now for each band?

For bands B/C/D/E there is still a £10 extra charge for a diesel over a petrol and for bands F/G there is still a £5 extra charge for a diesel over petrol.

Note this is for cars registered on or after 23 march 2006.

Also to everyone here why oh why do you pay your car tax every 6 months.... why give G Brown even more of your cash? Save up and get the 12 months in one go.

I buy 6 months the first time so that my insurance and tax don't fall on the same day, then I will buy 12 months after that

The petrol has been made the same as diesel tax now, there is no difference i.e banc C is now £115 for both type of car. (reg after March 2001)

Also the petrol duty has been alligned with that of diesel (but i thought it already was, just that it costs more for diesel as the demand is higher, apparantly).

Band C is £115?

It was £100/110 earlier this year so where has that extra £5 come from?

Band C is

Buying 6 months or 12 months also depends on how long you keep your car. The first 2 cars I had for 18 months and used to buy 12 months tax, so I lost out on 2*6 months twice when I sold them (I know you can reclaim every full month but that's a bit tight to the buyer and a trader would take whatever that amount is off your trade in).

All depends upon what the CO2 is.

Looks like the 1.4 is in band D (ambient and elegance) which would be
