Hello ! 15 inch alloys on Fabia ?

Featured Replies

Hi

Another newby here - great site !

5 minutes browsing and I already found out why the recirculate button sometimes doesn't work!

I just bought a set of brand-new standard Skoda 6J x 15 alloys for my Fabia (excellent buy on ebay)

What size/make of tyres would folks go for ?

I'd guess 205/50's ?

Thanks

Rick

Welcome to Briskoda, Rick. :D Advice is one thing available in bulk on this forum. BTW, what's a Fabia?

:nono: Denis. :D

Hi Rick, welcome! - having run 15s for a small while - I know the ideal tyre is 195/50 R15. I dunno if it would be worth having 205 wide tyres to be honest, possibly a bit too wide for a 6.5J alloy (I ran 205s on a 7.5J wheel - much nicer)

195s should be fine though.

Hi Denis

It's a small metal thing with windows

I just part-exchanged a 530 V8 bimmer so it's a whole new world for me ....

Anything that does over 20mpg has got to be good

Something much newer and smaller than an Octy. Why'd you ask? ;)

15" go nicely on the Fabia. Maybe Jason can provide you with info on what tyres not to go for...

Well he did provide the info....... :D

I shuddered when a car came into work for a service with the said tyres that Jason hates! Nearly told them to get them changed, even though they looked new! :P

Welcome to Briskoda btw Rick. That is certainly a slight change in direction there. 530 Beemer to Fabia. What model have you gone for?

Hi Graeme

Just bought a pair of 1.4 16V's - hatch for the missus - liked it so much I bought an estate for myself.

It's not such a big change from the BMW as you'd think, as the monster wastes most of the space it starts out with, while the fabia makes the best of what it's got. The estate's boot is the same size as the 5 series.

Also - I think the Skoda handles and steers better too (the V8's have the nasty old ball- type steering box as theres no room for a rack)

A funny thing - the 530 weighs 1500 kg dry and the Fab's about 1200 kg - thats less difference than I'd expected.

Cheers

Rick

I have found that the Furbie handles best on the original wheels and tyres (14" steels) as can be testified by anyone in the Furbie group at the National last year :D
