today, I was driving along much like any other day...got to a roundabout..went to pull out and ..nothing...she had stalled.... tried to restart....did so levelled at 1000rpm for around 1/4 of a second then died....did this about 10 more times so gave up... nice friendly AA man arrived...... after about 5 seconds turning over she fired up and was fine? other than being embarassing.... my dealer informed me ( as i suspected) that if they put the car on the diagnostic and no fault appeared..I would have to pay £70+vat for the privilege...

Does anyone have any ideas what may have caused this, on my 55 plate 2.0 fsi.

The AA man was practically insisting that i drove directly to skoda and he would follow, but I would rather set fire to my own testies than give them £70+vat for circa 3 seconds of work....

THe AA can normally do a diagnostic code read. I think given the fact that you had just broken down I would think any attempt to charge for a diagnostic check to be a little harsh.

I'd try another dealer mate. If it's under warranty they should defo do a diagnostic check...

Problem is I'm in Grimsby....nearest delaers are Hull (same dealer) Scunthorpe or Lincoln.

Spoke to a mechanic at the branch and apparently they ALL kicked off saying they shouldn't be charging....this charge ...'apparently' applies to all warranty type claims where they do not find a fault......is this a practice Skoda uk would accept as reasonable?

And the

Find a yokle with VAG COM perhaps to read the fault codes off but not to reset them.

Out of interest did you know that if you unplug and re plug the MAF or similar while the ignition is on but the engine not running you should get a fault code ;)
