New Fabia spotted in Germany

Featured Replies

The round fogs are standard foglights, the bigger squarer ones are the optional "cornering foglights".

Cornering lights are std on the L3 model, along with fogs.

So does that mean that fogs will be an option on L2 & L1 Fabias, and a different shape then ?

looks like the roomster popemobile.

dont like it one bit.

I've only seen these other fogs mentioned on the German website, they are sold with the "cornering headlights" package, but do we know if they are actually cornering(moving) fogs, do they shine out more to the sides, or is a better translation just "curved" foglights ?

The Germans still have the old named levels.

Fogs are a costed option on Classic and Ambiente, and Standard on Sport & Elegance.

Halogens are standard on Ambiente, sport and Elegance

the "curves" package is standard on Sport, costed on Ambiente, and costed but cheaper on Elegance, as it comes with fogs and halogens as standard

am still not a big big fan of it like it a bit more than i used to though

I think the front foglights that are standard on the L3 Fabia are the normal round foglights.

Cornering headlamps and foglights (the large squarer ones) will probably be an option on level 2 and 3 as on the Roomster for

Saw a couple so far. Pretty dam ugly. Too bad really...

Dead ! Dead ! Dead ! All the life taking out of the styling.

Its a Skodsan Fabrica !

Guess which part of the company had the major say on styling - clue - it wasn't the design department.

Expect finishes in pine, mahogany and rosewood with nice gilt handles.

I love it and as soon as the vRs is available, I will be ordering one!!

What puzzles me is the fact that all the reviews I've read in the motoring press have given the new Fabia a resounding thumbs up.

The most recent one I read was Auto express and they loved it.

Although the new car is different to the original in many ways, surely the original car has it's faults as far as looks are concerned. You could say the front looks in some ways to the Austin Vanden Plas of the seventees.

Before slagging off the new model, engage brain before mouth. There's been some very strong language used on this forum regarding the new model. (F*ckugly.com was used by one member) for instance. Pathetic. :thumbdwn:

I wonder what frosty reception awaits the owners of this car at the local meetings.

"sorry mate, your car looks $hite just like the Roomster so you're not one of us" because that's the message that's coming through from most on this forum, one of Roomster/new Fabia = $hite.

Some of you may think that even though I own one (Fabia Vrs that is) that I'm in some ways not being loyal to the brand. Not at all.

The truth is, after 16 months of ownership the car has been -

1) Utterly dependable

2) Very frugal with Diesel (up to 70 mpg)

3) Cheap to insure

4) Average to look at

5) Average road holding

6) Average cabin

7) Average performance blah, blah, blah.

In my opinion, the averages outweigh the positives and that's why the car was modified. (like most who have modified thier cars)

There are some on this forum who think i'm too outspoken on the Fabia. I was impressed initially with the car but it is a little average standard.

Ah well, if I get the new and improved Fabia VRs in 2008, us new owners will have to have a meeting of our own. ;)

Sticking my neck out now, but well said Johnny Boy... I'm very keen to get a test drive in the new Fabia before I make up my mind... it is growing on me a little now, but I'd have to see it in another colour... the tangerine colour does it no favours.

the other half has already expressed an interest in purchasing the exact model featured in Auto Express.... I hope it lives up to the article... I don't want to end up with another ford or vauxhall flop as a second car :-)

Martin

well Johnny boy, I just hope you're not disappointed when the new vRS version comes out - especially if they improve some of your "average"s, but at the same time decrease some of your "positive"s, like bumping up the price, or by improving the performance making it more expensive to insure.

Looks are always going to be a subjective thing anyway, and because nothing has been released on what a new vRS will actually look like (ignoring the s2000), no-one can comment on the looks.

If you get one, and you're happy with it, I'll be happy for you.

I've got a current vRS, and I'm happy with it, so are you happy for me ?

Typical German parking I see, can't even get a small car to fit in the space correctly!!! Will have to keep an eye out for these.

Opinions - that's all it is. It looks ugly and yes, the current version is no stunner granted (it's not bad either), but then, who really buys a skoda for its looks anyway?

I saw the new Fabia at the ring last friday. The car was not being driven on track but was parked on the roadside between pflatzgarten and brunchen. My dad got a picture on his mobile, I need to find a way to get the picture from his phone onto the web.

I would reckon the new vRS will be circa

Nice one Martin, you're not sticking your neck out, just having an opinion.

Yes, of course i'm happy for you

I am just pi$$ed off with the comments surrounding the new car when to me it looks better than the current model. Comments like F*ckugly.com are really unecessary and have got my back up.

I like my car and look forward to seeing the new car in the flesh and taking it for a test drive. I couldn't care less if it costs more to insure etc. I just want a change for the better without jumping ship to another manufacturer.

If the new Fabia Vrs dissapoints, maybe it will be the Octavia Vrs Diesel/Petrol, who knows but I can tell you one thing, I'm not being bullied into an opinion by some of the clowns who are just plain rude on this forum.

Oh dear, you may have lit the blue touch paper !! ;)

Still not into it really.....and no matter what they do to the bumper on the vrs version, it's still going to look like a roomster....

Totally agree. I loved the old style Fabia (that's why Ihad two), but this looks like the Roomster, a bit old people vehicle, especially from the front.

I agree :thumbdwn:

Update - having seen a few more photos on other sites I think I'll reserve judgement - it doesn't look bad and with a contrasting roof it does look like the new mini.

I would reckon the new vRS will be circa £15K when it comes out , since the pricing of the 'ordinary' models tops out at £13K ish. Going back to the argument on looks -"boggo vs vRS" , I fail to understand how a different front and rear bumper plus a set of wheels (for that's all the cosmetic changes on the outside) make a car change from being ugly to being good looking? Surely the basic shape is 99% Identical from 1.2 Classic to vRS?

It might be 99% the same, but that 1% sure makes a diffrence.

looks over weight from the side.........not very hot hatchable! but till i see one drive one i hold back on a jugment

I know. As soon as I posted it I thought 'oops'.

But, from my own experience when I purchased my first Fabia, I thought it looked ok but it handled better than the others I tried and also was a bit more practical.

Whilst looks do play a small factor, its not the main priority for me although I can understand some people may have a different slant.

I can understand what you are saying. When I was looking at the Octavia, my first impression was how ugly it looked without fog lights. So a simple addition can change ones view.
