Cheapest, most fun trackday of the year

Featured Replies

The WYIOC (West Yorkshire Impreza Owners Club) have several places left on their trackday at Blyton Park on Saturday April 21st. This day is a club day and free from many of the rules and regulations restricting other similar days, although safety is observed strictly. It is a non-profit day and hence cheap, intended to be fun for all in the club and other performance car enthusiasts who want to join us. Check out the main Scoobynet thread HERE and post your interest there too.

I will be there with my Fabia vRS, and maybe my g/f's too (although she may not be keen on track driving in her condition ;) ) and I look forward to seeing a few others.

Well, this is tomorrow and it looks like I'm the only Furby there :( Next one is on Sept 15th so maybe I'll have met a few of you by then and twisted your arm.

Will post pics after the w/e

post a few pics up over on Skuuuudynet to *P* off the usual 'Slate anything that isnt Jap ' Brigade fella :)

The Furby was very well received today, imprezzing [groan] many with its speed and composure. Took a few people out for quick runs and all came back with the same gobsmacked opinion. No Scoobs caught me up, but then again, I didn't catch them either. The rest of the 2WD stuff was fair game.

They may love their Jap cars, and for good reason, but my club although Impreza based is full of car enthusiasts who can appreciate any/many marques. On track today were my Furby, a Mk.1 Golf GTi (which ripped of its NSF wheel), a stripped and caged Fiesta, Talbot Sunbeam, Pug 205, Pug 309 (track prep'd), Honda Prelude, Integra TypeR, many Scoobs including a Gp.N Prodrive car (awesome) and an Ariel Atom 300. Invites were given to various car clubs, most of which got about as much attention as it did on here. Remember as well, the Jap car community don't exclude people quite as rudely as the "No-Rice" brigade, which puts up a wall before any discussion can start.

I suppose it's human nature to pidgeon-hole and stereotype members of groups other than your own, but as a member of both I have always found the Jap crowd to be much more welcoming, amiable and friendly, and certainly more inclined to have fun and use their cars rather than polish them and look at them.

I'll post some pics later and also extend an early invite to our next session on Sept 15th.

wish i'd spotted this thread before tonight :(

and in prague for next one.

I did this track a while ago (18mth) have they fixed the surface on the exit of the hairpin yet ?

Nah, they never fix anything, just move the tyres around to direct you away from the worst damage :D

I heard somewhere that they had secured funding for significant upgrading of the venue and that it's due to start this year, but there was no evidence of anything whilst we were there. I'll ask the owner (Howard) when I contact him about our September booking.
