5 speed driveshafts in a vRS - definite no-no?

Featured Replies

Yay or nay?

Interested in some spare driveshafts as they appear to be a weak link in the fabia vRS drivetrain (tried and tested/snapped ;)) and was wondering if they come back as being from a 5 speed car, there's absolutely no way they'll fit in my car. Is there a significant extra length in the 5 speed shafts compared to 6 speed? The last thing I want to do is be affecting the geometry by pushing out the bottoms of the hubs.

:thumbup: Ta for a quick yay or nay! :cool:

Dunno about that but you may have to look at some custom-made devon-duty ones....

Just get some scaffolding rods and a angle grinder :D

Don't give the guy any more ideas :rofl:

scaffolding + welding gun = roll cage + Jason = tried and tested :rofl:

:rofl::D :D

think you should look at getting some uprated ones made Jase :D

I've been thinking that these may cause an issue later, so it'd be good to know there is a solution to a potential problem.

I'm sure WW might be looking when he get's his map sorted

i dont think they would fit as the six speed box is longer as it has the 6 speed box on it

but then again i am still new to the fabia really and dont have much of a clue

Not much to do with length as the driveshafts go into the diff not the gearbox.

But however the output flanges and the CV joints are different sizes as are the shafts themselves.
