Fabia N00b !

Featured Replies

Hi !

Another Fabia VRS n00b here.

Justing moving from a much-loved Renault Clio diesel and looking forwards to getting my new '06 Fabia this month.

Got a couple of queries - does it have an outside air temp reading? Couldn't find one during my short test-drive.

Also, what's the standard fit speakers like? I'll be replacing the factory-fit Skoda/Grundig radio and wondered if the speakers were decent enough to not have to worry about replacing them at the same time.

Cheers.

Rgs.

Hello and welcome! :wavey:

Yes it has an outside temp guage and it also alerts you when the temp has dropped to very low temps (icy).

I always found the standard speakers very good after upgrading the factory head unit.

Great news.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Looking forwards to picking it up soon.

:iagree: the factory fitted speakers are actually quite good

welcome to briskoda

Outside air temp - Yes

Standard sound - pretty good

Car very very impresssive (5 months ownership - seriously impressed).

Really really feels as if it's built from rock.

Speed humps - over 20 mph and the nose will touch the ground.

Ride quality - a touch firm on bad roads, 90 / 95 % fine.

Performance - feels like V8

Economy - 40mg up

Buy some Millers Diesel Sport 4 - improves performance mpg, cleans injectrors, quietens engines.

I've used it for over 200k (older version, brilll - recommmend it to everyone, proven).

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

I've had the car for a couple of days now and it's pretty impressive, I have to admit. It's quick, I'm getting some very good MPG so far and it's well built (no rattles/squeaks like my French car!)

The trip computer can be difficult to read sometimes (eg. driving in to the sun) as it's not backlit or reverse LCD, but not a major issue.

I'm finding the speakers a little hollow sounding as well, despite changing the head unit. I've still got some tweaking to do here so should probably be able to get it to my taste.

The above two are very minor niggles. My only major concern is the brakes. My Clio had incredible brakes. Dab them on and you'd be hurled towards the windscreen. Despite the VRS having large discs all round, they feel very spongy.

Is it just an adjustment thing I can get the dealer to do, or do all VRSs' feel like this?

Oh, and if anyone knows the best/easiest/quickest way to get a cable from the engine compartment, to the boot, I'd be interested to hear it. ;-)

Cheers.
