Fabia has cataracts?

Featured Replies

Took the car for a wash this evening, and I was sure that one head lamp looks slightly cloudy. Been looking at it since I got home, but can't tell it was just a trick of the light at the jet wash or there is something wrong.

Has anyone else had this on their cars? Suppose it doesn't just have to be Fabias but maybe some octys too. I haven't got xenons, but do have slightly brighter than usual upgraded main beams, if you know what I mean. Am I the first casualty of this?

You have water in the headlamp units caused by jet washing them.

Leave them on for a while when your next driving and they should dry out.

Oh okay, thanks!! Glad it is that simple. Thinking about it, it wasn't until the last spray all over that I saw the cloudiness.

Is it doing any damage to the bulbs to be in a moist enviroment?

No shouldnt do. But water in the headlamps isnt good and would be an MOT fail if it interupts the light beam.

If they arent clearing dampen a tea towel and hang it over the light with the light on. The heat build up in the light will burn the water off.

Good trick, will see what it looks like in the morning. At the moment the car is parked very close to my boiler and as I have the worst insulated house in the world it should be a couple degrees warmer there.

Good for frosty days because the windscreen doesn't freeze up.

That's building regs for you. I had to change my boiler 18 months ago. It was in the kitchen. Now the only place it can go was in the garage, right next to the Fabia.

My Fabia suffered with major codensation behind the lenses but as Lummox said, putting them on sorted the problem out more than well:thumbup:

similar thing here, went through a rather deep puddle very deep in fact and noticed next day condesation on inside of lights. I took a while but did go eventually was one of the more simple problems with the car. Hope yours s ok now. BTW never happened again since
