A warning! stuck rear seat,

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Fabia 1.4 estate, 02 model. Recently I after putting the rear seats back into the upright position the near side (ie driver side) rear back seat is stuck. the handle to release the seat is also stuck (it pulls up slightly but not enough to release the catch).

The reason is that the when i put the seat back up, i left the seat belt behind the seat and now the belt is probably caught up in the catch or the buckle is affecting the mechanism from releasing. I have tried using force to pull on the handle but no joy.

So be careful when you put your rear seats back up, make sure the seat belt is in front of the seat.

Have looked at the interior panels to see if there is a way to undo them to reach the catch from behind the seat but no joy.

Apart from that anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

cheers

Made a similar mistake once and unfortunatly it came down to brute force and ignorance to get it out. Pulling as hard as possible on the handle whilst pulling the seat back down.

Be sure to check the seatbelt for damage when you get it free.

The pull handle on my hatchback broke off before, I had to level the catch open by putting a screwdriver in the hole where the catch catches ( ) and release it that way.

WD40 it first, from the boot. Careful about the trim etc.

Try extreme waggling of the seatback at the same time as pulling on the lever.

Good luck.

J.
