66k on octavia

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Currently looking at getting a vrs. Ive found one in silver with 66k on clock.

Is this reasonable for a 20vt lump? Are they really reliable even with higher mileage say 70k plus?

Welcome to Briskoda.

There are a fair few on here with 100+ and very few problems. 66k isn't even run in! :P

Depends on the age of vehicle and how its been driven, 60k on a motorway is a lot less strain than 60k of stop start city driving. However having said that 66k is peanuts for the modern engine, with the majority of modern vehicles I wouldn't expect to have to worry about major engine problems until 125-150k, even my 1987 Nissan Silvia clocked up 193K before the ECU finally packed up.

It always makes me laugh that when you try to part ex any vehicle a dealer will take anything over 8-10k per year as 'higher than average' and offer a silly low price but when selling will describe 15-18k as average.

66k should be no problem, modern engines are far better than old ones.

mines an 02 with 60k, faultless. dont worry, as long as its been serviced at the right times it should be fine. give it a good checking over, and see if its been modded or used for racing lol. if its normal driving, no probs.

Mine is a 53 plate with 72,000 miles on the clock and a dodgy lambda sensor is the only problem I have had since new.

66k and you are concerned?? Even the most abused examples live to 120k+ (Just ask TaviaRS!!! )

Make sure its had a Time Belt and Water pump changed at 60k , if not then deduct
