Mk4 Golf into vRS

Featured Replies

Following on from my question about a TT interior into a Mk1 vRS, I have a question about a Mk4 Golf GTi interior. I know it fits, but would it affect anything like seatbelt beeps, or airbags? Dumb questions, but I'd feel worse if I bought an interior and found it to be incompatible in some way.

Thanks again,

Andrew.:)

Depends if the donor car has side airbags etc.

Seatbelt stalks can be swapped over.

Lummox, the seats do have airbags & are the cloth Recaros. In fact these the kind I'm thinking of...

eBay.co.uk: VW Golf GTI Recaro Seats (item 150111979738 end time 17-Apr-07 22:00:35 BST)

I am thinking of putting these in, storing my seats and then either putting them back in when I sell the car or selling them on at a later date as a mint set.

It's mainly so I can just get in and use the car without the concern of dirtying the white inserts.

i have golf gti seats in my mk1 octavia estate with absolutely no issues what so ever, mines even from a 3 door so the seats swing forwards :D

the seat belt clippy thing just swaps over like mentioned above and its a direct swap :)

Thanks Bengie, that clears up a few things.

I presume if your car doesn't have airbags in the existing seats you can't put in seats with airbags?

You could, the airbag's just wouldn't work.

yes you can they just won't do anything :)

Yep ive just done the same with mine put elegance seats in with

airbags whereas mine didnt have them before

as mentioned just had to swap the belt stalk over

no issues at all

ooh thats interesting. I hate the VRS seats, I keep sliding forward in mine.

i have the standard golf gti in mine, nioce and comfy with grey/black cloth finish :)

hold aswell if not slightly better than vRS seats too :)

Am I missing something here?

Couldn't you just code the car to tell it that it has seat based side airbags, or is part of the wiring loom missing?

After all the elegance has side airbags and very good they are too when needed.

I'll look into doing this soon. I think my drivers side seat is fubar anyway, the back rest seems to keep moving away from me whilst driving.

The Recaros in the Golf look much nicer imo as well

Do you have any photos ?

If the car doesn't have side airbags as standard then the wiring loom for them won't be fitted.

Fair enough.

I figured that they would all have had the loom there as they need to have some wires for the seatbelt warning system.

Were side airbags not an option on the VRS then?

nope, i will go take some pics in a minute for you Doc as i am home eating ym lunch anyway :)

Yet another reason to get a 1.8t 4x4 then
