Hi Folks,

Just nipped over from old Octavia category to ask a question!

Does anybody know if the presumably taller springs fitted to the Octavia Scout would transfer to a 2001 4X4 Octavia?

Might need the dampers as well for increased travel? I know its a new model, but just toying with the idea to gain extra ride height, without ordering custom made springs.

I have Land Rovers for serious off road work but could do with more ground clearance in the Octavia sometimes when I'm in the forest and on farm tracks.

Hopefully some techie type will know!

I would say no as the MK II has different suspension and there are even two mounting sizes for one part on the Octy II/

That's just a guess though.

Only way would be to get one of each and compare them next to each other i would guess.

Will try and compare them but getting up close to a Scout outwith the showroom could prove awkward unless I get one on a test drive;)

Anyway current thinking now is either custom springs, or some form of spacers between the top of the spring and the suspension turret.

Have used this method on Land Rovers which works.

Another thought would be larger tyres, which would mess up gearing somewhat but not seriously, and I use GPS for accurate speed anyway, so next question would be to fit maximum size 16" tyre profile that would not foul wheel arch or cause other clearance issues. Thinking along the lines of 205/65/r16 or 215 and 225/65/r16.

Would also need to think about stiffer springs or anti-roll bar due to increased centre of gravity.

Not looking for massive gains but my Dad''s Subaru Forester sits at a reasonable height with no real roll issues so that is what I am aiming for.
