Central Locking & car in Bits

Featured Replies

Hi.

Few months ago i had my passenger side rear lock die (deadlock's won't work), which I've fixed with a new door lock.

However, I've now got a new problem - the deadlock stays on again!

I believe it's down to a wiring problem, but due to a lack of CAN-BUS wiring detail in the Haynes manual have nowhere to go looking. The electric window still works, both from the door switch and the drivers door panel. Switch illumination still works as well.

If it was a CAN-BUS wiring fault, then i believe the windows would not be able to be moved using the drivers door panel - but it does.

My understanding of the system is:

LOCK <-> Control <-> Door connector <-> UNKNOWN <->central convenience unit

I've:

Inserted signal from opposite door into lock : Worked. ( lock ok)

measured voltage across lock connections - 12.3v spike when unlocking, as per other door.

Replaced Window motor/Control Box. Didn't work. ( no change)

Tested connectivity from ( at door joint) to control box input. - Buzz OK.

Chased cables to under dashboard - and lost it as it went into the "cloth" under the glove box

Removed Conveinece Unit - no change, but windows no longer worked - WTF?

I'm now more than a little "bemused" by this.

I believe the problem is something to do with wiring, but that's as far as I can go.

Where is the "CAN-BUS" cable amalgamation point in a 1998 Octy so that I can buzz out the full link?

Any ideas?

Ta!

Closed - broken wire in the under the dash near the fuse board stopping power from getting to that door.

Hi all,

I am fitting an alarm in my Octavia 2.0 Petrol Yr: 2000

Was trying to find out a wire to connect the lock/unlock signal from my remote to. I connected it to the wires found in the driver side switches in the door. But after all, found out that it can not be double locked (the original remote double locks the doors remotely, but when you press the button from inside the car, on the door switches, the car is not double locked) . So hence now I need to find the wire that sends the signal to double lock the doors when the lock button is pressed on the original remote.

Does any one know where the Central convenience control unit / ECU is located please?

Does any one know where I am likely to find this wire / signal that double locks the doors please?

many thanks for your time and help.

This is just to enable the email notifications cos forgot to turn them on in my last post in case any one replies.

Thanks again.

I'm also looking for the location of the convenience unit in a mkI Octavia ....

Hi TKW and any one else who may be looking for the CCM.

it is located in the drivers footwell. you will have to undo the footwell plastics. Undo all the screws carefully. As far as I remember there are no clips, and only screws, so dont try to pull off the plastics. Instead, when all the screws are undone, the plastics come off easily without any force applied. The rear plastic (closer to the engine) clips on to the one closer to the driver which can be separated by squeezing the clips. Then disconnect the connectors for the light adjustment switch, and the head light switch, and finally the OBD connector which is towards the lower end of the plastics. Once all connectors are undone, remove the plastics.

To find the CCM, you will have to look upwards in the drivers footwell after removing the plastics. The CCM is fitted on a metal plate with two screws. It is a black colour box approx 4 inches wide and about 3 inches deep, with two connectors. these two connectors are facing the engine side. The CCM is located on the right hand side of the steering column (when sitting in the drivers seat) or towards the left of the steering column, when looking upwards in the drivers well.

Let me know if you need any further help, with locating it, or using the connections to it etc.

Good luck.:)
