I disagree with you Im afraid you are trying to get a rise from me and I will refuse to do so.

Lets just talk facts nothing else no Vested interest statements.

Come on get real man

Compare apples with apples perhaps.

Figures prove nothing as soon as you put in twisites the fabias less than ideal stock handling causes issues.

Stop trolling you are getting very boring now.

The "isn't the fabia VRS so great threads" are so fun.

Why don't we start a thread comparing measurements in mm's you know just to prove who is best in bed

The Mk1 118d is very disappointing after the VAG TDi's - not only feels much slower but you'll often have to go as far as dropping a cog on the motorway.

This is certainly not a the vRS is so great thread - the opposite in fact if you read it correctly.

Figs prove everything - in the vast majority of cases we are either accelerating away from the traffic lights/pulling away in gear on the motorway or overtaking on an A road. Only a real idiot would be driving so fast that cornering handling comes into play. i.e. I can drive a 214i Rover P reg with 120k on the clock round every corner I do in my car at the national speed limit it has shot suspension too so this totally kills your above issue.

If it were a race track then thats different.

Perhaps you are talking about the 120bhp version. If thats the case you are saying that the Golf GT TDI 115 which has the same performance feels slow - I have driven this for 40k and thats certainly not the case.

A friend upgraded from a Golf GTTDi130 to a 120d SE 163bhp I asked him which was faster and he said the BMW by a mile much quicker in fact but you dont realise it as much as you do in the Golf.

Only a real idiot would be driving so fast that cornering handling comes into play.

I guess all us IAM members are complete idiots then? Chris must be an utter loon

Well as stated if I can corner in complete safety in a rubbish rover 214i with 120k on the clock and shot suspension at the national speed limit that means it really doesnt matter that much in the real world.

Unless of course you drive like an idiot breaking the speed limits and risking other drivers lives - shame on you. I hope you get caught if you drive like that on the road.

Apologies Welshy but you're wrong. If you are driving your Rover down the road to my village at 60 and you go round the bends at the same speed as me in the Roadie (within the limit) you are driving dangerously and I am not. Fact is that you drive not only within the conditions and your own ability, but also that of the car. Stating handling to be of no benefit off-track is utter crap.

And if your suspension is knackered & you're still cornering at those speeds I'm not sure it's other people who are the idiots...

Now come on I said the suspension was shot - but still word worthy MOT pass a month or two ago.

A Kia Perodua can be driven round any corner in the UK at the speed limit given to that section of road if it cannot then the speed limit is too high.

Handling is one thing that is only important on the track Tyres are the real world important factor.

I simply can't be bothered talking to you any more.
