Fabia VRS to octy Vrs ??

Featured Replies

Since when was the Octavia fitted with a 15 gallon tank (600/40 = 15) The tank is what, 55litres/12 gallons? And you wouldn't want to run it dry, so say 11.5 gallons * 40 = 460 if you are brave!

wtf?!? where did you get that from?

the guy claimed 47mpg from his car not 40mpg and 600 miles at 47mpg is about 12.7 gallons and my octavia 4x4 has a 60 or 65 litre tank, i don't don't know exactly the size of the vRS tank if its different.

Hi all,

I currently have an 06 fabia VRS, its great for all the reasons that i am sure you all know anyway. However i became a dad last month and already i am tight for space.

I was looking at upgrading to something new and bigger but then thought it would be a better idea to perhaps get something less expensive and actually save some cash for once and pay a big chunk off my loan to at least shorten the term it will take to pay back.

The car that immediatly sprung to mind was an octavia vrs on something like an 02 plate. I have seen ones around for about 5-7k with around 50-100k miles. This would mean me getting a bigger car and ending up with a good few ££££ left over from the sale of my fabia. Sorry to go on a bit.

My question is this, i don't mind paying the extra for tax, insurance and fuel etc as i would have already saved myself around £5000 on the car. However I do 300 miles a week in total for work and a little bit of running about at the weekend say 100 miles. I usually have to fill the fabia up around once every 6-7 days. I know the octavia is going to be far worse on fuel but how much worse. Do you think this idea is any good or do you think that the extra costs envolved with the octy vrs will soon outweigh the cash i have saved by getting an older car.

Its the only other bigger car i fancy and can afford. Sorry for this to be so long winded but i didn't know how to make it any shorter!

Thanks for you help in advance.

Octi vRS's like this are out there. Check out http://www.briskoda.net/forums/skoda-cars-sale-others/octavia-vrs-hatch-2003-44k-black-magic/75225/ I know it's a distance from you but think of your drive home

I too have 1 kiddie at the moment and bought the car 1month before he was born 2 years ago, I had the same thoughts, what is a sensible family car that I would enjoy driving, however kiddie number 2 is going to arrive in the next couple of weeks and the wife wants to give up work hence why i'm selling it, i'm now trying to find a 130bhp octi elegance estate.

Personally I would keep the fabia, my wife has the fabia vrs and we use it everyday for kidde related stuff and also have a labrador, we just use a roof rack for the pushchair.

Just incase your interested in my Octi I usually get 300/330 miles before the fuel light comes on and my drive to work includes country roads/M1 and stop/start into Sheffield
