Black Paint around Pedals??

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Having just aquired a Red Octavia VRS on an 03 plate, with only 10k on it, I have been going through the car with a fine tooth combe.

I found something today that has me a little concerned........... I noticed the throttle pedal was not travelling down as far as it should. Upon investigation I discovered that some sound deadening material had got stuck under the pedal, directly below the pivot point.

I have also noticed that the Bulkhead is black, and there is sealant around the pedals where they meet the bulkhead, that has been brush painted black?

Is this normal on an Octavia, or have I bought a car that's had some major repairs? Was there ever an issue with water leaks in this area, that was repaired aftermarket?

Please someone...put my mind at rest.

Regards

Nigel

I've just had a look at mine. I have the sealant and the bits of the bulkhead I can see are black. I couldn't really tell if it was brush painted though, sorry.

The black bit I would think is the moutning plate for the pedal box. Its all mounted on a plate to allow for rhd and lhd applications.

Should be sealed with seam sealer around the egde.

Thanx Guys,

All sounds quite normal then?? I've looked under the car closely to see any evidence of any repairs and found nothing amiss. I did wonder if the black paint over the sealant is there to stop the Red body shell showing through around the gaps in the carpet??

Regards

The bulkhead is black or the slam panel where the headlights are?

Bulkhead, Where the Pedals bolt on??

Oh right. I just took a look as I was curious and its hard to tell really, I can see some kind of black plate beyond the carpet and red underneath.
