Ok, so here's the challenge, I have £200 to spend on my Fabia and was looking for performance upgrades for that price, including fitting.

My car is a Fabia 1.4 Hpi 8 valve on a 53 plate.

For the money what do you guys think is (are) the most worthwhile mod(s) can be anything.

It could happen....

Jabba Rear ARB

You're probably right - ARB will give most grins for 200 quid

Ok, thanks for the imput guys, where would it be possible to get one supplied and fitted? I live in Oxford, is there anywhere close?

Many thanks!

Yup, another shout for Rear ARB. Contact AwesomeGTI - best pound for pound mod... Get it delivered, relatively easily fitted by you. Guide on here somewhere or Fabia-vrs.com - Home Page

Or get a cheap remap, which will almost certainly blow your turbo. Your choice :D

Erm, remap on a 1.4 8v, rightttt

I assume everyone in Fabia section has a vRS...

'a.ss' out of 'u' and 'me'...

Brake upgrade, well unless there are lots of corners ear you where you feel that the safe limit of cornering is determined by grip rather than visibility, legality or other road users.

Following on from that, you could sign up to either IAM/RoSPA and mod the driver to make him faster ;)

Chris

Indeed, driver training should be your first port of call with so little money.

Use the funds to put up a for sale ad for the car.

Use the funds from the sale of the car to by something faster.

Interesting, how the sensible replies all say either "rear ARB", or brakes then driver training. Of course, the driver taining has the benefit of being transferrable to another car at no cost!

Rear ARB on a 1.4?

I would think this would unsettle the car a lot as the front ARB on the 1.4 is probably a lot less rigid than on a vrs.

K&N induction kit!!!

Lol, and I thought I was the youngest on here... with some of those replies... clearly not!

Thanks for the imput people!

I have done some looking into getting an induction kit, that seems like a good upgrade for the money. The rear ARB is my favorite at the moment although, how much could it unsettle the car and is the front ARB on my car weaker than that of a VRS? Would a rear ARB unsettle the car? However, the lure of beer and a BBQ might just tempt me away from any upgrades!

The problem I have at the moment with getting anything faster is the insurance, i'd need a little more than

Reading that last post - if you haven't already, do Pass Plus then do IAM or RoSPA.

You will find that the car goes that much quicker with a bit of driver training. The added benefit is that your insurance will go down rather than up  Seems like win/win to me.

If you doubt the benefits of training on speed of the car I am sure there are some around who will testify that it can make the most unlikely car pretty quick ;)

The guy in the "beetle" was most upset when he was passed by a diesel......

Seem to remember on a coaching run with a fellow Briskodian, the humble diesel repmobile found it's way past a CTR, Focus RS and Clio 172 on some of Wiltshire's finest twisty stuff

As you're in Oxford, you might want to sign up to this.
