Does anyone know what the custom fit speaker upgrades are like??

Featured Replies

When I bought my Octavia the salesman at the Skoda garage told me I could by some custom fit speakers for for car which are a straight swap for the existing ones. I think he said they were Pioneer, not to sure though.

Dose anyone know what make these speakers are? Are they any good? And how much are they?

Yes, you can get some Pioneer ones which will fit, and in a range of prices. Anything's better than standard, even the cheap ones! :D

If you do a search on "Pioneer" there should be a fair few threads on the subject with some model numbers too :)

I believe they're 17cm in size (diameter) - apart from that there's a lot of choice in the Pioneer range which vary in price a lot, and need to be looked into.

16.5 Jason, not 17

But at that size what difference will 1/2 a centimetre make? :D :P

After looking on a couple of websites I'm assuming that these are the correct size speakers for the Octavia. Two 16.5cm in the front and two 10 x 15cm in the rear. What about the tweaters?? Is it worth changing these as well??

Another quick question. Is there any way to disable the radio from turning itself down as soon as a bit of bass runs through it? Its starting to get on my nerves!! I understand that it does this to protect the speakers, but when I udgrade the speakers (in the very near future), obviously the new speakers will be able to handle a lot more volume that the crappy standard ones. Am I gonna have to go and buy a new head unit to sort this out?? If I do get a new HU, which ones are compatable with the existing multi-changer??

Cheers, Andy.

In relation to this does anyone know (for sure) what the diameter of the Fabia speakers are (and therefore what size upgraded speakers have to be too?) please... :D

In the hatch the rear speakers are 10cm and round, rather than the oval 10x15s found in the estate. If you're getting coaxial speakers (ie. with a tweeter in the middle of the "bass" cone), then would just remove the existing tweeters and not bother replacing. If you're going the component route than you'll need to compare with the exisiting tweeter (which is really easy to get to anyway).

Does the original HU turn itself down? I don't recall ever coming across that. You should find your new speakers are "more efficient", so you won't need the HU so loud to produce more volume...

But get a new HU when you can anyway, and no it won't be compatible with the existing multichanger! :D

Who's the Fabia ICE expert? ;)

Surely you have a spare door you can take to bits so you can measure it with a ruler? :D

Yeah - I could do that at the weekend, but was hoping to organise something this afternoon with regards to door speakers... :speaker:
